Well actually I have been to New Orleans a couple of times, but I can't remember the potholes, must have been distracted by something else. Anyway I thought this one was a whopper, so that's the best I got.

it definitely qualifies as a pothole - what is the soil like there?

do you get a permafrost type condition at some depth?

I have a question - why doesn't anyone fix that damn pot hole?

That's a doozy.

Whenever I see a substantial pothole, this song comes to mind.

It's gonna take a lot of pot to fill that hole.... won't be cheap :)

All they did originally was pour asphalt on dirt. There is no base rock. So to fix it "right" would make it the only good section of that road. They can fill it with dirt and then do a concrete patch even.

It's all mud, bright red mud, you know from the song "Bud the spud, from the bright red mud."..

so, if they dump a couple feet of gravel on it, will it just sink into the mud?

In New York we had potholes that would swallow a VW Beetle whole.

I work in IT. Lots of network fiber gets run through tunnels in towns. To get to the fiber, you go in through a manhole.

It's not uncommon when there's an outage for the outage to have been caused by "fire in the manhole."

I always assume someone went to a bad Mexican restaurant when I hear that.

To get the city to fix them, spray-paint penises on them.
