Sooo..ummm...this happened today

And then there were four :D

A 2009 with 50k miles and decent maintenance history paperwork followed me home.
Have spoken with my previous owner, and the original owner. Original owner has agree to let dealer release his maintenance paperwork.
Here's a pic from my previous owner.

I had a 2012 987.2 follow me home a few years ago, I haven’t regretted it once....love the car and everything about it. Congrats and enjoy!

Nice!

Looks like a nice ride!
Congrats.

Outstanding! Looks great.

S or standard? What options? Not that it matters, either way, it'll be a blast to drive.

onewhippedpuppy 09-10-2020 05:07 AM

Very nice. I had an almost identical base model 2009, great car.

I've got two................how can you have a car collection with only 1 ?

David 09-10-2020 06:45 AM

Congrats!

I was looking hard at 2009 Cayman's in 2013. Big points for me over the 2008 were the upgraded engine and head curtain airbags which had just saved my life in my 997.

Unfortunately for my wallet, pictures of the 981 Cayman started showing up in magazines and I had to increase my budget.

Standard. The market for Caymans has been reeaaaallly thin around here lately.

BASE Cayman
409 18" Cayman S II wheel (not sure when the original wheels disappeared)
446 Wheel Caps with Colored Crest
619 Bluetooth Interface for Mobile Phone
680 Bose High End Sound Package
810 Floor Mats in Interior Color
870 Universal Audio Interface
9Q Meteor Grey Metallic
AN Black Standard Leather

The BOSE sstem has got to go. Sounds like a fart in the wind. I know, "the engine is the music" but it's actually pretty dang quiet. And given my job, decent audio without missing frequencies is important. Listening to Bose and trying the "fill in" missing frequencies gives me headaches.

I wound up getting the bumper to bumper warranty, 3 years, 36,000 miles. Made sure it covered anything I'd need it to cover. While the PPI came back decent, there were a few things that'll probably make the warranty quickly worth it.

Audio upgrades are a huge PITA in any modern Porsche. Communication between modules is via a fiber optic network, you can either get an expensive adapter box or just scrap everything. The dash kits also aren’t very elegant, they are a wart in an otherwise nice interior. If you don’t care about the awkward looking head unit the easiest and best approach is to just trip out the entire factory system and replace everything down to the wiring.

Beautiful car. Congrats!

Cajundaddy 09-10-2020 10:09 AM

Nice! I have owned my 2009 PDK for 5 years now. Pretty brilliant cars, enjoy!

Rather than scrap the entire underwhelming entertainment system I just use my iphone playlist and a nice pair of IEMs. Quality car with quality sound AND isolation from road noise.

911boost 09-10-2020 10:10 AM

Agree, if it is a MOST system its a pain in the a$$. I would go over to the R-List as that is a more active newer car forum. There will be plenty of folks that have replaced it. My 2010 997 has sat radio and that is good enough for me, the car is dang loud.

I like the color, nice score!

badcar 09-10-2020 10:20 AM

Great color- and the wheels are really good on that..

I have shopped to get my Bose unit replaced on my 07..and it is $$$$.

wdfifteen 09-10-2020 10:52 AM

New Porsches must be awfully boring if they need an entertainment system. Isn't the point of a Porsche to be an entertainment system? Mine are. Only one of them even has a radio.

Of course they are. I spend an indordinate amount of time in my cars, and when I do, I listen to a lot of customer recordings, examples of sound they're looking for, etc. My job is audio frequencies and ranges. I can't do my job very well if I'm listening to audio missing so many frequencies it sounds like there's a blanket over every speaker, not allowing me to hear frequency spikes in samples, etc. That's part of why why I use studio monitors for my PC audio.

Awesome, Wolfe - I can't wait to see it. Please tell me this is an addition, not a replacement...

I swapped my factory head unit out for a 7" Pioneer touch screen, and I can't tell the difference between the dash now and the original.

I would have liked to have bought one of the kits from Rod Birch at Car Audio Innovations, but now that we're living in an apt I didn't have the tools or space handy to do that sort of install. I paid a local shop that gets lots of recommendations. They did a pretty good job, but I'm not sure if I'd say it was a great job.

Yes, usually they go through the MOST fiber optic system.
