No pistons, cams, etc. Just fix the problem. |
I get the vibe that your are just “done” with the car. Basically you’ve hit your emotional hassle limit and just don’t want to look at it anymore. I’ve been there a few times, it’s hard to get that out of your head. Personally I would sell (big shock right) because I would bet money that if you keep the car you won’t spend the money to fix it and it will just rot. Which leads to more problems because there’s nothing worse than a car sitting idle. There seems to be a lot of love for the Elise, I say sell the 911 and give it a shot.

i'd buy that Honda S2000 someone was showing off here and never look back.
|
If you were closer I'd put one of my spare 3.2s in it for a few weeks just so you can know how awesome your car can be Ger.
|
Bob, I wish my area had guys like you and Shaun in it. I asked on the Michigan POC about people helping each other out with cars.... pretty much dead silence. lol
I want to keep the car, learn the car, wrench on the car. I just fear that inevitable $20K engine bill if I dare enjoy the car.... I might be making to much out of it, but it is a real thing. My plan was to fix the head studs next year no matter what direction I decide to go. Shaun, I wish you were closer too... lol I am not sold on selling it, if I can find a way that makes sense to keep it I will. |
My gut says that at $30k you're keeping the car.
|
C4S, yea, at $30K I would be stuck as that's not enough to get into an Elise, at that point I'll just fly Shaun out and we can put a 3.2L in it. LOL.
I mean, as I said to my wife, my worse case scenario is that I have a very cool old Porsche... that's not so bad is it. I'll have to really do some math on a 3.2 swap and see what I can make of it. If I fix my head studs and get the car dialed in I am sure it has a lot of life in it. So maybe it buys me some time to find a 3.2L A 3.2L with headers and a chip, in a sub 2300# car should be pretty fun. I really do want to learn with car, take it apart and put it back together. I just lack the confidence to dig into it, and my local resources think of Porsche ownership as Jackie pants and dinners out. I hope the engine build class can happen sooner than later, I was really hoping to go to that. If the economy gets better, maybe I can freelance some work... that could be a quick $10-30K or 15.00 after taxes. :D |

Just put that in your hip pocket. |
Dude, that would be amazing... we may have to talk come next year. ;)
Pelicans like you is a good reason to keep the 911. |
After Bob works on your $30K car...it will be $20K car.
|

Just pulling Bob's chain...because he always has a great sense of humor.
