Damn! just had a peloton delivered a couple weeks ago. Its a super nice unit and the classes/instructions make it a bit easier to get motivated. Will come in handy once the weather really turns here.

Just read a news story that Amazon is denying having anything to do with Echelon and the Prime bike. Amazon has pulled the bike from it web site and is working with Echelon to get them to rebrand it.

I suspect the average usage life of these Pelotons (and their clones) is about the same as every other stationary exercise/weight loss machine ever made - about 6-8 months. Then, the excruciating boredom turns them all into very expensive clothes hangers.

Remember the TV commercial sensation from the 90s, the NordicTrack? They're actually very well-made machines. I see these at thrift stores frequently for $5 or $10.

At least with the VitaMaster, the machine did the work!

I’m not so sure....so far they have a pretty insane retention rate (something like 90+% after a year). We have one and I have to admit I love it, even though i generally hate cycling. Great workout, well built and the classes and instructors are top notch. I’m sure other options will take a bite out of market shares, but as of now they have a pretty fanatical following.
