I am getting weird calls on both my cell and home (yes, a land-line!) phones.

It is the recording of a woman speaking a language I do not know, but clearly an Asian language. There is also soft piano music in the background.

I have tried to order take out but they don't seem to be listening?

And no, I am not a consumer of Asian porn or any similar item/service.


Any ideas? I can't see the motivation here? Unless it is some sort of broad cast message in unknown language for a different audience? The piano music makes it seem a little sexy. Not sure.

I received a text message all in Cyrillic. And I have had phone calls of some Asian language. I did not listen long enough to figure out which. I did not care.

The language is Chinese. The voice is telling you something about your visa or residency card and that you need to pay a fee to stay in legal status.

Send them some money, QUICK, so they will leave you alone. That's what I would do.

Yep, and if you don't they will revoke your citizenship!

I got one of those calls 10 years ago. I ignored it.

They are gonna come get you and deport you! Watch out.

Or, if it would help, you could send the money to me, and I could send it for you.

Explain to them that they are the lucky caller and have won cash "What is your bank account number and any passwords please."

Or use the old one..before robo calls. In your best Deejay voice: "You are caller number six. If you can answer the question I asked on the air, you will win ten THOUSAND dollars."

I got one just the other day. The lady said, This call is for (mechanical voice) Jack Crowbobiwicz. (normal voice) we have been trying to contact you before we cancel your...’ I hung up because I don’t have anything that can be cancelled.

I get that too, on my cell.

I had a cool one a few months ago that was AI (English), but pretty good at inventive responses with just the right amount of laughs and “um’s”. Took me about a minute to realize it was not a human.

Its a very common scam. They are preying on Chinese people, telling them they need to pay up for get deported.

Your phone number likely got sold. Did you recently apply online for something?

Oddly enough, the same thing happened to me after looking for a lower insurance quote. Started getting all sorts of calls in different languages..
