Folding Phones
anybody buy one?
or try one and reject it? The big screen is attractive as it might replace a 'pad' but how fat are they when folded? and do they really fold out to make a nice screen with no visible seam (like in the ads)? |
I've heard of them but not looked into them. My guess is that they will be fine if you're somebody that has to upgrade to the latest and greatest, but if you use a phone for years, they will not last.

We got my mother in law a newer iPhone and while at the store I looked at the fold phone. They have one that is 1,000 and the bigger one is 2 grand. Gulp. Sorry, I am not interested. I have used an iPhone since the version 1 or the original.
It will be interesting to hear if the folding phone can hold up this time around. I am not their market, but I am sure lots of people will put them on payment plans. |
The seam is unobtrusive until the X thousandth fold . . . these will be phones for those who replace their phones every year or two.

I thought the thread was about flip phones and got all excited. Folding phones, nah, I got an iPad for that.

Apple was able to destroy the battery life with one of their "updates" |
I miss my startac.

I just ordered the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2. I use my phone to send, review, sign a lot of documents, so the large screen is a HUGE plus for me. If I could buy an actual tablet that also worked as a phone, I'd have gone that route.

I buy iPhones 2 gen old, used, for $400, work great. Currently on an XR. |
They are not all that new.
While rare they’ve been around for a bit. We will know whether or not they are more than a gimmick when Apple announces one. Apple does not entertain making anything until the market shows it’s something people actually want. |

I dropped my Galaxy in the water twice this year alone, once in the river, once in the toilet |
