^^
Never heard of Apal. Looks like they were offering a body plus a hot-rod kit for a VW engine. I see they also offered a Porsche based kit.

That's correct, first cars were fitted with vw engines but later on, 30 of them received 356 engines and around 8 cars had a lightweight body. In total 97 Apal coupés were ever produced in the early 60's.
In the eighties and nineties, Apal Sunset launched back a small production but rear clip was different. It celebrated the aniversary of the Apal Coupé (maybe in relation with the Porsche 550 RS (VIN 550 0082)?

That looks like a four Cam exhaust on that car. (Top photo)

Wdfifteen,
More, this Apal was fitted with a 2-litre Porsche 4-cam engine; later on it has been replaced by S90.

Rocks for parking brakes have been supplanted in my case by redundant house bricks, a more upscale solution chosen by me to prevent my AutoX car from rolling away.( Don't use the manufacturer supplied because I only use the car every 4-5 weeks or so).

First picture is showing the Apal protoype, maybe that's the reason why a rock was preventing the car from rolling away? I'm also using house bricks for the oldtimer stored in my garage;-)
