Cool.

That stump grinder was kind of small compared to the monster they brought in to grind our palm tree stump down a long time ago. They dropped the tree in sections between our house and the neighbors house. About a 15' wide space. It was a good excuse to get the neighbors to move the junker Luv truck out from beside their house.

Looks GREAT, Shaun! Please continue to keep us posted with progress.....

Looks great! Just a suggestion - you might want to consider saw-cutting about half through the thickness of the slab. At a minimum from each corner of the center pit to the perimeter, with no panel greater than 8-10' without a saw cut.

^^^ thanks David, they just came and did that.

He said they used 10 yards of concrete or 28,000 lbs btw.

Not the same thing but I liked this method for pulling concrete posts.

wouldn't an engine hoist do that?

Glad you got it done.

And might I add that's the biggest stump grinder I've ever seen. All I've ever seen here are walk-behind models.

That's the same thing that I've seen.

If you already have a hoist then yes but this thing is purpose built and it would take up less room than a hoist.

Anyways... I like making my own tools. :)

I've seen that a few other times in recent years. Genius since it transfers a bunch of the pulling force to a vertical direction. Still, it would be a little scary having a bunch of force on that line and standing near it, and having the possibility of that line coming loose and hitting my nice looking bronco.

Best $300 ever spent. If I had known how big his grinder was I wouldn't have cut it down. Too much work for a little 16" saw and the locust wood eats chains.

It took literally 20 minutes to get it off the trailer and then demolish, annihilate, obliterate the stump and 5 minutes to get it back on. Machine was remove controlled.

That's a Crocodile Dundee moment right there. "That's not a stump grinder. THIS is a stump grinder."
