I wish we had a couple/few hours of this 1962 Monaco GP

Apparently it's from "the 1962 German documentary Flying Clipper aka Mediterranean Holiday"

I think you can find the whole thing on Youtube, but it's not all racing. I didn't find a version in English, but I'm sure it's out there. I'm assuming this 7 mins is most/all of the racing footage.

Great footage, thanks for posting Steve.

The title says Monaco Grand Prix 1962, but it's actually an equal mix from the 1961 and 1962 races. Most of the Porsches shown were in clips from the 61 race.
The film quality is superb, but the commentary is awful. The spinning Ferrari #40 at 3:24 was Willy Mairesse, not Phil Hill.

I'm not surprised, but, yes, the quality was amazing. I found myself looking at it closely trying to figure out if it was CGI because it seemed far too good. Then I figured out that it was part of the documentary, and figured that it had been heavily remastered.

I was definitely born too late. I think the 50s and 60s were the best. I love and could get into just about any racing of this sort, but there's something about the 50s and 60s. For instance, every one of the cars in this video is amazing.

The quality of this one isn't as high as the first vid, but it's very nice and has some really cool details.

Great footage - thanks for sharing. Is that a 250GT?

All the videos..tons of fun. Had to sigh a bit...princess Grace shown in the last one. She was a classic american beauty who married a prince.

philly born princess grace!. thank you.. that footage is absolutely amazing. mostly for what it shows of what monte carlo and monaco ville looked like. (i have sailed into that harbor 50 + times in modern day).. lowes hotel was a helipad.! that factory at rascasse was a coffee machine factory for decades,....no barriers even at quaiside except a few bails of hay. the apt bldgs lining the harbor look like tenements. those were some brave dudes racing those cars, head and shoulders out of the cockpit with no roll bars.

I wonder how many fans were slain ….each lap. For sure the starter (green flag) and checkered flag man would be dead and many others surely.

I killed two good beers watching all of them.

I want to live in Monaco in the early 60's.

I want to just sail once into that harbor.

Was at the Indy 500 in 78 (Corvette pace car). Outside the track before they let you in is where death risk is. Four peeps were killed the night before they allowed entrance. Booze, coke, weed and motorcycles. They didn't broadcast that info.

One story and that's it. Little truck with bed top parked next to our van awaiting entrance in a parking lot outside the day before the race. Kid and Mom come back from walking around and she bought him a tasteless t-shirt for a 9-ish year old kid. Something like "Show me your tats". Dad screams at the top of his lungs about how effing stupid that was because she could have bought the same shirt for three dollars less at such-and-such a place.

Later in the afternoon/dusk he pops out of the covered truck bed after just knocking one off with Mom. Bare naked, junk swinging in the breeze. Pulls some shorts on and then pulls a t-shirt over his head that says SuperDad.
