Major fail

I like this song. I like most of this band's cover. It could be good but the idiot with the trumpet ruins it - big time. He must own the sound system.

Kill it with fire. Lots of fire.

944 S2 10-04-2020 07:51 PM

I dont know but I thought the trumpet was the only good part!

craigster59 10-04-2020 07:58 PM

Sounds like "The Archies" with Jughead on trumpet.

fanaudical 10-04-2020 08:00 PM

On the one hand, I like they took the song and tried to make it their own.

On the other hand, it's not something I'd pay to hear.

I like them except for the trumpet. We've done a lot of traveling, arriving at hotels on Wednesday or Thursday. The cheap weeknight entertainment can be good - or really bad. They would have been a good Thursday band except for that awful trumpet. Best weeknight band we ever saw was in Grand Rapids, Mi. It was a duo - guy with a bass saxiphone and a guy playing classical guitar. Hard to describe it, but it was one of the most entertaining nights we ever spent out on the job.

MMiller 10-04-2020 08:54 PM

That's a mess.. In a crap paneled room.

craigster59 10-04-2020 08:54 PM

Lake Street Dive is a great band and Rachael Price is a great vocalist. But that is not a song that they should have covered.

Now this is a cover that is right in the band's pocket. And Jeremy (Gogar), I'm expecting backstage passes after this lockdown lifts for boosting your YT views.... :)

Trumpet player is off. Ruins the whole thing.

Nostril Cheese 10-04-2020 10:22 PM

Good 80's cover....

Bah. The drummer should hold the videocamera.

pavulon 10-05-2020 02:37 AM

Amy Whinehouse sits in with a middle school band wearing mom jeans...next.

There is no "Major Fail" when this thread leads one down the rabbit hole to find this. "Oh My"

The band in the OP truly is a garage band, and belongs there.

Shaun @ Tru6 10-05-2020 05:47 PM

that was horrible. God I miss the 80s. Such a happier time.

That is a really good song. I forgot about the reference to Altered States at the end. Used to watch on MTV.

Could use some more trumpet. Just sayin'.

Shaun @ Tru6 10-05-2020 06:12 PM

Want me some Susanna Hoffs.

She's aged. I like it a lot.

The Bangles were a good cover band.

I've had a few Napa Cabernets and Chateauneuf-du-Papes like her.

Be nice. Zeppelin was as well in the early days.

You guys are harsh. They were enjoying themselves. All the criticisms are correct but I don’t think they were trying to out do the Beatles or even the Monkees.

Tidybuoy 10-05-2020 07:15 PM

I agree the trumpet is bad but so is the rest of the band. Starting with average to poor drumming, lousy singing. The whole piece was hard to listen too.

There are lots of very talented players that are not pros. Thanks to U tube, we get to enjoy some of them. I am usually on my computer after dinner working on stuff and I often catch myself listening to this little kid as I crunch number or designing something for clients. Talking about going down the rabbit hole. He's good, really good guitar player. Play anything enough, you get good at it.

I may have posted this before? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyvWfBNTVwY

At first I laughed, but as I watched for a min, and discovered these guys are very good.

Jason Bonham on drums. This Japanese Jimmy Page kicks ass.

RWebb 10-06-2020 12:18 PM

from the title, I thought this was going to be a Jaguar electrical system thread...

UconnTim97 10-06-2020 12:34 PM

Did the drummer break wind at the start of the song? The singer's expression at 0:20 seems to suggest it.

What sound system? I think that's the root of the problem. Give me the board and I'll put that trumpet in its place (next room).

Ne, really, the whole thing is flat with nada dimension.

ROFLMAO. I'm trying to stifle the laugh because the grandson is asleep in the other room, but wow.

Way to go kids for trying!! Keep it up, some of you will get there.

asphaltgambler 10-15-2020 11:42 AM

I'd pay for a good bottle of wine, to hear them play for free.
