It’s fun watching people from certain areas of the country justify why where they live is worth paying far less money, being "more safe", and having "more" rights.

They try so hard, sometimes I think they are trying to convince themselves.

If you were Army or Air Force its highly probable you were stationed somewhere in Texas! For myself I spent time in Wichita Falls and San Antonio and I always considered Texas more of a "country" then state. Texans are independent, politically conservative, rough and tough and no doubt full of attitude. After all "Don't Mess with Texas". I, however, would never want to live in Texas and that could have been because I was in the military and the LACK of hospitality was evident. Maybe if I were a native it would be another story. Anyways you have Ted Cruz and thats enough to keep many away!

Why leave if you can do a Eurotrip without even leaving the state?

I've only left the state for 9 months, to live in another, over the course of my life. Texas will always be my home.

If you ever get to Austin and tour the Capitol, somewhere in there, I will be forever. Last checked, I was in the house gallery. I get moved around, I might be in the basement by now.

Easter Sunday 1964 the day of the big earthquake In Alaska. We’d gone to an Easter sunrise service at Breckinridge park in San Antonio. After that we toured the park and my older brother and I did some cliff exploring off the beaten path. My mom was still pissed and it showed in this pick of us standing in front me to the front right of the Alamo.

We then went to Austin and did a tour of the capital bldg. I guess nobody thought it would be open on Easter Sunday so we had the place too ourself. A bored tour guide gave us an extensive tour even taking us into the bowels and tunnels down below the general public never got to see. Showed us the clap trick which doesn’t work unless you are standing dead center on the star. Step outside even a foot or two no go. Beautiful place.

I met her too. She was in Rochester then and was wearing Chlamydia. So many scintillating phone calls a young fellow needed to make. Ugh.

I loved my visit to the Texas State Capitol in 2013. I did not know of the clap trick but I was amazed at the size of the doors and windows. They are impressive.

Also hit the campus to see the Clock Tower. Had a big zoom camera and could clearly see myriad bullet pockets where they were trying to kill Whitman. Eerie.

I do. My dad taught me that when I was around 4yrs old. Stand on the star... I know a fair bit about the capitol, I worked in it for awhile.

This stair case scares the **** out of me. I've been all the way up to the top several times, above the star, outside.

The regular guided tour will get you to the third or fourth ring, I forget, but if you know someone, and I still do, you get to do the dome tour. DPS takes you up. It's pretty cool.
