I'm going to have to go through this thread.

We are going to need to get a second vehicle in the next 2-4 months. Having a Boxster as an only car when you own a 100 year old home in the country is going to prove inadequate at times.

I'd kind of prefer a macan, but I don't think they can be had as inexpensively as a Cayenne, and the cayenne will have more cargo space. I assume the rear seats fold down.

Oh yes. The seats fold and there is lots of room.

I know this ia a Porsche forum, but get a small used truck. The place you are buying is really beautiful and you are going to amazed at the ton of stuff you'll drag home to make it even more beautiful.

Just trust me on this. Small truck for firewood, mulch, gas cans and dirty equipment that needs repair.

Or get the Porsche and a utility trailer: There is stuff you are just not going to want to put inside your SUV on carpet.

This. I love my Cayenne, and it pulls a trailer just great. But if you plan on making trips to carry stuff, a pickup is way more useful. Messing with a trailer gets old....plus storing the trailer if you're not using it. I ended up buying a dirt cheap pickup from a co-worker, just because I didn't want to mess with a trailer, and I am now storing the trailer at my parents' farm. My girlfriend drives the Cayenne 99% of the time now.

Merk i'm just picturing pulling the duck boat out from a hunt. covered in mud on my waders, back the trailer in, walk into the water to load the boat, climb back in the truck to pull the trailer out THEN get out and remove wet, muddy waders. It would be a bit upsetting to have to remove mud from alcantara!

the good news is that alcantara is a completely synthetic material (unlike suede) so it should be able to be cleaned. Although, I'd probably skip the alcantara and go for leather. You could always get a seat cover that could be thrown on for those situations. I got something for my boxster for when I had to put the child seat in to keep the seat from beating up the leather. It was cheap ($30) on Amazon, is made of wetsuit material (neoprene), and to install you just sip it on the headrest..

I get a kick out of all the Cayenne love ....17 years later. I bought one of the first ones to arrive in the US, a 2003 S. Was routinely mocked, kicked and spit on for sacrilegious behavior! A Porsche SUV??? What are you thinking? :D:D But needed an SUV for work, and the ability to fully depreciate $70,000 in 1 year via IRS Sec. 192 made it seem free :D

Probably still the best do-all vehicle I've owned or driven. The PSM system was amazing.

Whatever we get will double as something for the missus. She's NOT going to want a truck. Maybe we'll get a small trailer. We've got plenty of space to store one and it probably won't be hard to find one. Shoot, the current owners have a horse trailer and 2 flat trailers sitting on the property now.

That would mean that we'd end up having to buy 2 new (to us) vehicles.

Easy day, then. My wife likes to drive my truck and then get back in her 4Runner:cool:

We can start a “best” utility trailer thread and blow the roof off this place!
