WTH is going on
I've been ordering parts from pelican for the past 15 years. Never once had a problem with orders or shipping. My last 3 orders over the last few months have been a disaster! Do they have new staff? This has nothing to do with covid either. It just seems like poor operation. Have any of you ran into issues with orders and shipping recently?

Yes. With others. Three in the last couple of months. "Ships in four days" then a notice comes in that the item can't be filled until several weeks out.

Hmmm... now that you mention it... I've been ordering more than usual lately, having undertaken a number of projects on one of my son's cars (a suitably hot-rodded '68 912 with a '72 MFI inducted 911 motor in it). Lots of oddball little parts, like heater cables and heater box springs, MFI camshaft dive seal, various relays, etc. I've had a few orders "overlap", wherein I'll order some stuff one week, some other stuff the next week, and the second order ships before the first. Even with all items "in stock".
I'm not complaining - I have the luxury of time, just piddling around on these little projects. I actually had to ask my son to drop it off, and had to "make" him let me work on it. I'm retired, I get bored, I need projects... So it really doesn't matter to me, and I actually hadn't really thought about it until you brought it up. I think I'm just going to go back to not thinking about it. I know not everyone has that luxury, though... |
Most places don’t actually stock anything anymore, they rely on drop shipping / local warehouses and they information they provide to you is only as accurate as what the distributors / warehouses provide to them, which is often not that good. I believe PP actually does stock a fair amount of stuff in house but many online businesses now are just “make believe stores” run out of a spare bedroom with zero stock - 100% reliant on third party drop shipping. They’re really just middlemen - they deal with the public (distributors don’t want to) and that’s their niche.
I really do appreciate when someone is up front and tells me if something is back ordered BEFORE paying so it’s my choice to continue... It’s really frustrating to pay for something and then be told (AFTER someone else has my money) “oh you have to wait some unknown length of time but we’ll get it to you... whenever... eventually”. I’ll usually just cancel an order at that point. I’ll wait with my money in my own pocket, not theirs thanks - or I’ll go someplace else. If they’re honest / up front about it I’ll often just let it go but if it’s after the payment? Nope. |

Chinese R1234 refrigerant adapters, special Mitsu spark plugs from Japan, carb for a Yamaha generator, all marketed thru US seller locations. |
All my stuff has been arriving way ahead of time. Upgrades to 2 day shipping on my last two at no extra charge,

Dont get me wrong, I love pelican. I totally understand the non stocked parts taking awhile but when I order a part that they have more than 20 in stock, get an email 2 days saying its on its way to usps, 5 days later issue with payment(they have my money), 6 days later its back on its way to usps. I've just had a lot of ordering/customer service issues lately and wanted to see if I was the only one with these problems
All I want is my air injection plugs so I can get this 930 back on the road 😪 |
Use 1/8" brass hex head pipe plugs.

I just ordered parts for my Cayenne and they came in two work days. No problem here.
