It's a pullin' machine now!

Installled this Draw-Tite today on the Fit. Bought it from Amazon...$115
Took about an hour and a half. Could have done it in half that time if I would have read the directions better!

Now you need a huge travel trailer to pull!

What's the tow rating?

Over the summer I put a class V hitch receiver and wired in a brake controller (which involved running marine-grade triplex tinned copper wiring inside the frame rails and tapping multiple fuses) in my Chevy Express 3500. I can two 5,000 "standard" and 10,000 with a weight-distributing hitch.

stevej37 10-20-2020 07:34 AM

It's a class I hitch...only rated at 2000 lbs for towing and 200 lbs for tongue weight.
I wanted it for a roll-on..tip-away bike rack and maybe a small utility trailer for fall leafs.

Sounds great for those purposes.

You can get some pretty neat attachments for trailer hitches these days.

Yes there is. The bike hitch I'm looking at will pivot to the rear..so that the hatch can be opened with the bike carrier still attached.

I had a trailer hitch on my 74 914 2.0

I used it to tow a little utility trailer I made that was just big enough to carry 4 autocross tires, and a small tool box.

Just put a hitch on my wife's CRV and a Kuat Sherpa bike rack.
Blocks photo radar cameras extremely well and does a bang up job holding a couple of bikes too.

Just found a side benefit of the hitch....
Will be easier now to wash the upper a** end of it.

(the brown spots on the Fit are reflections of leafs in my driveway!)

No problem! I'll probably just haul it in the back of the Fit.
Is it full grown or a kitten? :)

legion 10-21-2020 07:34 AM

Don't pull too much, too fast. You don't want to be accused of "Toobin". :D

Wow, that is a shin killer. I hope you don't keep that in the receiver unless you need it.

stevej37 10-21-2020 08:12 AM

^^^ No..I just wanted to check the height.
I know how much hurt they can cause...esp when carrying a 50lb bag at full stride. btdt

911 Rod 10-21-2020 08:21 AM

Or just buy a step!

^^^ That might be the way to go!
Here's the bike rack I bought for it yesterday.

Nice job Steve.
I'm thinking of a Fit roof rack but man they are pricey https://www.etrailer.com/roof-2009_Honda_Fit.htm?Redirect=NoVisibleProducts

Eventually I'm also thinking of a nav system to upgrade the radio.
