So here is a FYI...

I went to Harbor Freight today for some disposable wrenches and noticed a recall sign on the wall. I asked for specifics. The clerk told me that ALL jack stands have been recalled.

Yikes. I have some of these. I guess the ESCO's are in my near future.

Are the jacks stands marked? I mean I'm not digging out receipts from years ago. I think in a recall they have to accept back anything that is proven to have come from them including those acquired used.

ALL jack stands? That will get expensive...

Here's the recall notice on their website - it only seems to apply to certain models:

Yeah, I think it's been discussed here before as well. Never hurts to remind.

IIRC, the whole issue is people not seating the pawl into the shaft all the way. New ones may very well have a spring on the handle to help it hit bottom. However, there would still be some potential for a sudden release.

They said that three numbers were specifically recalled. But, if I was not comfortable I could bring any back.

I always position the handle away from the side of the car I will be crawling under so less likely to accidentally
displace the handle
