We used to watch it and you are correct, there are some very strong for their weight athletes on there.

I'm sure they get the time/chance to practice on the full set of the course.
But there are some real tough obstacles in their way. There is a curved ramp they have to get speed and run to the top and grab the ledge and pull themselves up. Most get to the top...but it's close. A guy last week did a 360 just before gaining the top and grabbed the ledge. Incredible!

I'm a bit disturbed by the concept of a "warrior" being depicted as a contestant on a game show. Kind of demeans the concept in my mind, but I guess that's up to the people who actually got shot at in an actual war somewhere. JMHO

I used to watch it but have stopped after maybe the 3rd season. I do admire the athleticism and have wanted to try the warped wall, but the closest one is an hour away...

The Gladiator on the left (Nitro?) is a dad around here. He's an ex-football player. I've seen him coach flag football at the local rec league.

There's actually a trick to ripping phonebooks in half. I did it when I was a teenager. You grip the book with the open page part facing away from you. Bend the book in a "U" shape away from you & let the pages splay so the top ones are straighter (more taught) than the lower ones. Then start tearing. The more taught pages on the top tear first and they tear in succession to the looser pages on the bottom. Not too hard at all - at least for me then.

Most of the contestants work out 24/7 for those game shows, it seems that the challenge is more important than relationships, or jobs.

^^^ Makes me wonder how much they get paid for competing...or winning.
