I remember back in the 70s a guy bought a brand new 930. He totaled it 3/4 of a mile from the dealership on his way home.

stevej37 11-20-2020 09:58 AM

Clearly another case of 'sudden unintended acceleration' :)

Wait till they start the Taycan cars and coffee meets!

Bob Kontak 11-20-2020 10:07 AM

On the upside, no visible body flex on the Taycan.

Porsche-O-Phile 11-20-2020 10:08 AM

Dibs on the fuel line hose.

That Taycan really resented those ICE powered cars taking up both the driveway and the road.. Where was it going to plug in!

SiberianDVM 11-20-2020 02:33 PM

Good God! How does that happen?

LEAKYSEALS951 11-20-2020 02:35 PM

I thought it was going to hit the house.
Disappointed when it veered right.

I had to think about that one for a second. LOL

Just a really stupid driver, likely received a text message and though the gas pedal was the brake pedal. Just like the Audi unintended acceleration debacle.

Bottom line the real issue is: loose nut behind the steering wheel.

So, Glen, what happened to the front end collision sensor?

BTW, I saw one in person last Fri. It's bigger than a Camaro. Good looking but not the best looking car from Porsche.

Otter74 11-21-2020 09:12 AM

That guy was Audi 5000 for sure.

stevej37 11-21-2020 09:20 AM

Someone call '60 Minutes'.....quick.

I have little doubt if one pushes the go pedal (can't call it the gas pedal) it will go no matter what the sensor sees. I would hope the car responds to driver input over sensors.

Have you ever driven an EV ?
They have massive torque on demand

The driver was facing uphill and gave extra throttle blip like he was driving an ICE.
Car lurched because massive EV torque, and he tried to find the brake.
Instead he found the gas.

Watch the brake lights to see exactly what happened.

I drove a BMW i3 loaner once, but I managed to get it back to the dealer unscathed. I was very proud.

Nothing to see here, Just a Porsche driver practicing to be a Mustang driver but without endangering any crowds :D

Por_sha911 11-21-2020 02:48 PM

My insurance agent is also a personal friend. He says many 'failed brake" accidents are granny stomping on the gas by accident. He had a customer plow into his building doing that.
