Crop Circles

What do you think?

http://www.swirlednews.com/index.asp

Does the technology exist to create these work of art so precisely and in such a short period of time?

Should we be concerned as a human race?

I would be concerned if an alien race waged war against us. The French would surely protest American led intervention. ;)

Seriously, those crop circles are incredible. They just appear overnight? And no one sees it happen?

amazing...real or fake

CJFusco 04-24-2003 10:58 PM

Wait... is THIS http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads/fab4_01b.gif a "real" crop circle or merely human creativity?

Planter91C2 04-25-2003 07:34 AM

the guy drew it on his computer, then used a gps navigation system on his lawn tractor to do it.

Jared at Pelican Parts 04-25-2003 08:09 AM

LOL, I want this on my front lawn.

DonDavis 04-25-2003 08:14 AM

That does not look real.
The horizontal plane of the alien image looks to be elevated top to bottom in relation to the field.

Anyone else see that?

Or is it just "residual barley/hops product effect" syndrome?

Z-man 04-25-2003 08:25 AM

If you look close enough, you should be able to see Waldo hiding behind the alien head! Actually, hoax or not, I gotta admit that's some fine artwork!

Anyone see the flick: Signs? I saw it not too long ago: scary movie....

Signs was great! Finally an SF movie that investigates the human/societal impacts of an SF concept (technology, aliens, whatever) instead of spending half the film making up bogus science to explain it.

"Fire the tachyon pulse!"

Many people did not like that movie, although when I was watching it, I actually felt a bit scared at times. I liked it :)

I liked "Signs." I thought it was creepy/scary. I love those kinds of movies.

Crop circles...real or fake...I don't know...but I think they look cool either way!

If crop cirles are fake, there is still a mystery on how they are made.
If they are real, there is an even greater mytery on what causes them.
Either way, there is a mystery and a message...they seem to connect with something greater. Even the most skeptical can only admit that they exist.

I just found another view of the first one I posted.....I'm always very skeptical when it comes to these things but this particular crop circle got me interested in the subject and so I did some more research on it....see for yourself:

from http://www.circlemakers.org/totc2002.html

"Updated 16th Aug 2002:
With the harvest now upon us, it's crescendo time again across the wheat field of Southern England. The entire crop circle community have been waiting with baited breath for the 2002 season finale. Well, the waiting is over, and we can hear the sound of jaws hitting the ground. The above formations was discovered on 15th August at Sparsholt in Hampshire. You need a bit of time to take it all in, it depicts an archetypal grey alien alongside a disk. Interestingly the formation is situated in a wheat field adjacent to a telecommunications tower. Take a closer look at the interior of the disk, it's actually a spiral. The crop circle community are already suggesting that the standing and flattened segments in the disk might be binary code. To help the research effort can we suggest using this site once you've managed to extrapolate all of the ones and zeros. "

Disk encoded:

"The data in the CD-type disc decodes easily into ASCII computer text as follows, using 8 bit binary:

*

"Beware the bearers of FALSE gifts & their BROKEN PROMISES. Much PAIN but still time. (Damaged Word). There is GOOD out there. We OPpose DECEPTION. Conduit CLOSING (BELL SOUND)”

*

The damaged word would appear to be intended as “BELIEVE”.
