New Jeep 392 Hemi Should Be Interesting

And expensive...

Horsepower wars continue... 470 horsepower.

And now that the TRX is out with 702hp, I wonder how long until that supercharged motor is dropped in a Gladiator.

The regular hemi would have been a good upgrade in the Wrangler, but the 392 is better yet. Go big or go home I guess.

And the lawsuits for rollovers start all over again....

Jeep will need a lot of hp to run away from the new Bronco

Sooner or later 11-24-2020 09:31 AM

As far as I know the top hp for the new Bronco is 310.

flipper35 11-24-2020 11:37 AM

If they really used them off road they wouldn't need a lot of power.

FCA is soooo creative. 'I know, a bigger engine!'.

They do big engines well, but it's wearing thin.

flipper35 11-24-2020 12:47 PM

Well, they are running out of vehicles it will fit in. The 300 and Gladiator is about all that is left.

What kind of beta male complains about a nearly 500HP V8 Jeep... WTF people.

If it have a manual I am all in, if not it might be a Bronco for me. I'll be giving me Wrangler to my wife in two years. :D

gordner 11-24-2020 01:22 PM

Is that actually new? My 2020 Grand Cherokee SRT has a 6.4l (392CI) hemi at that power.

mattdavis11 11-24-2020 02:00 PM

I guess they are catching up to the past. I've seen a ZR1 motor stuffed in a 1989 YJ. It belonged to a friends brother. I think it was 1993.

That should be enough power for the knuckleheads that can afford it to get themselves into trouble.

carambola 11-24-2020 02:24 PM

different springs if i'm not mistaken.
i don't think the air suspension is an option.

About damn time, the aftermarket has been doing it for 20 years. Now that Jeep has shown their cards it will be interesting to see what Ford rolls out for the Bronco Raptor. Personally I love the Dodge strategy of “Hemi all the things”, it’s a nice counter to the ongoing pussification of performance vehicles. Of course when the green new deal drives gas up to $5/gal it might not work out so well.

wswartzwel 11-24-2020 07:01 PM

Wonder if they upgraded the axles?

ckcarr 11-24-2020 07:09 PM

Dana 44's but heavier duty according to TFL...
