Toshiba has a junk obsolete cpu. It's not just about age. Is a 2010 Civic the same as a 2010 Porsche? The thinkpad is far superior upgrade and had the legendary keyboard. 14" screen is better than 15.6.

For what the OP wants to do .... just add $40 of RAM (because of Win10) and call it "good". SSD is probably just gravy, but would help. A non-bloated OS (Linux) and his hardware would be just fine as is. He's barely using what he has now ;)

S! needs a total upgrade ... more memory will not help... when you don't even use whatcha got :D
