Not the best looking car out there, but I'd have one in a heartbeat (I used to own a BMW M Z3 Coupe, so I like oddball cars...). I have yet to see one negative review about it and I think the highest praise it has gotten is that it is Gordon Murray's daily driver. Wish more cars were like this (excellent handling, adequate power, lightweight, not absurdly expensive).
|
I agree with everybody - it looks better from the rear...

The front would be greatly improved if the driving lights were larger. They can still be faired in for aero, just make them large with prominent lens/reflector. As it is, looks awfully Japanese.
Still vaults to my top ten current cars though. The small size and simplicity do it. A car whose designers obviously did not give AF about cupholders - Good. |
Is this a car that shares components with another, a Nissan perhaps ?
|
I think you will find it not only shares an engine with Renault and Nissan cars but also a Mercedes.

Well I drove the original recently - life long dream of mine - and as cool as it is, I could not have one - it's just too small and paying current asking price for something so tiny and clearly made in a shack would be too hard for me. I'd love one of the new ones though, I find it pretty and I love that they went light and softly sprung. Were they to sell it in the US I'd trade in my 911 in a heartbeat. I'm not saying it's better than a 911, I'm saying I'd like to be driving something different and super light... The only issue I have with it is the auto-box. Needs a manual.

Gordon Murray will have a better dream for you soon...

I actually kind of like the looks of the new one. Based on the video, there's a bunch of stuff that I wouldn't like, all of the plasticy crap and what seems like some wonky ergonomic. It would probably be fun to drive, but I don't think I'd have one. |
I would probably take one over an Alfa 4C but probably not over an Elise. If they ever made a real Lancia Stratos again...

I'm trying to figure out the difference between the 2020 and the former model introduced in 2017.
I found this. Oct 2019 Alpine A110 review: new A110S tested on road and track https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-reviews/alpine/alpine-a110-2017-review/ Quote:

This new car certainly sounds much more nimble than what I recall reports of a few years ago saying. I like the car a lot, but the Corvette seems to have undercut the competition. Weight in pounds: A110S = 2,500 ish Cayman = 2,900 ish Corvette = 3,500 ish Evora = 3,200 ish Elise 2,000 ish |
