Got a new TV today.......

My old Vizio developed a severe darkening on the whole left side.

Got this one for $248, on sale, from Walmart. 50", just like the old Vizio.

Had her up in about an hour. Hardest part was lifting it onto the wall bracket!

I use the same model for my home PC. I can do several things at once with a screen that big and the HDMI connection from the video card provides pretty good sound when I fiddle around with my Launchkey37 keyboard/MIDI system.

Might want to plug in the old one, the Gators aren't looking so good on the new one.

Baz, Sorry you had to buy something. It's a shame you couldn't pick one up on the side of the road for free.

Add a sound bar. Wish I had done so sooner.

It’s amazing how much lighter the flat screens have gotten- one person can install by themselves.

I have one. Had to get it with my Vizio.

So far....I don't need it with this Hisense.

I read somewhere they vastly improved the audio on this model - and have to say so far I'm very pleased with it!

LOL...actually I buy a crap load of stuff every month!

You should see my CC statement on the Amazon account.

I know you're just kidding (the green font gave it away) but the thought did cross my mind to check CL for TVs. No-brainer to spend the $245 and get a brand new one!

I'd look into how to tune the picture.
I was amazed when my wife got the Geek Squad to come and adjust my set when I got it from my daughter.
The change in picture quality was something else.
I couldn't actually watch it when I first installed it it looked so overblown on the colors.
They tweek them up at the factory because they don't know which ones will be used for display in stores so all get the same treatment.

You are going to love it. I bought a 55" Hisense about 6 or7 years ago. Everyone that sees it comments on the picture quality. Still has an amazing picture and no problems.

I see Hisense and TCL and wonder about the quality and durability of those tvs. Good info to know about the Hisense.

FWIW.....as I was in the store and chatting with the Walmart associate about their TV's, a fellow consumer passing by overheard us and commented to me he had bought a TCL not long ago and was very happy with it.

Thanks for the info, Scott.

FWIW....there is an option that comes up at the very beginning of the setup sequence where you can choose either store display or home use. I chose home use, of course. But imagine the other option is what you were experiencing.

So far the picture is so good, I don't see the need to change it at all.

These TVs keep improving in technology as the prices drop. This is why I didn't get some expensive huge set. At some point when this one fades on me, I'll pull the trigger without regret because it wasn't some huge investment. And I know the next set for the same money will have even better technology.

Good point, Rutager. I think though, if I went any larger than this 50", I might enlist some help, just so I don't accidentally damage something. Especially the lifting onto the wall bracket part! There is a warning about pressing into the display face too so wouldn't want to do something like that!

I just replaced my 65" Vizio with a 65" Samsung, shocked at how much cleaner the picture is on the new display. Still pretty darn cheap I think under $500.

Nice and yes that's a great price.

I don't know all the technical details about these improvements. And I don't need to know. I walk in - try to get a certain size. Check pricing. Buy it. And enjoy.

They have those curved screens now but to be honest I don't see how those are going to make much difference. Especially for the price difference.
