It's amazing to me, that the collision didn't put the Camaro into a spin.

I thought the same. Didn't even seem to fishtail or anything. Must have been a barely glancing blow. And the fact that the end of the guardrail is designed to give to absorb a collision probably helped.

I don't think those are effective enough to completely eliminate an issue that was due to side swiping something.

Well when the car weighs 3,400 pounds (more than some SUVs) it’s going to be a bit more stable. Newton’s First Law of Motion and all that... Most newer cars are PIGS, the Camaro especially so - it’s huge and it’s not light.

Also....I think the guy with the dash-cam hit/ran over a big chunk of the Camaro's front end or fender.

Heavy car, lower to the ground with mildly stiff suspension. No problem taking the fender and door skin off.

It looks like the driver did not initially judge how much to turn the wheel to clear the barrier. The car was turned at a greater angle nearing the barrier and it responded, but it was too late.

You have just coined a new phrase regarding drivers and barriers.

i cant see what is the end treatment on that barrier. it was metal?

I'm surprised that the DOT doesn't require a post or a tower where the concrete division is.
Might be hard to see the actual separation.

Still no excuse for the driver trying to pass when he shouldn't have.

From the look of the damage he just barely touched the concrete. It doesn't take much force to tear the hell out of a modern car.

Lots of damage IMO. That car would be a write off... And I'd bet the driver was hurt :(

I wonder what the impact resistance is for that type barrier on a highway? I can only imagine at speed, you’re not going to walk away. Would barrels of water (with reliefs) or some other substance be batter?
