Thx!

When in Las Vegas, I love Lee's Liquor and other places for their variety of whisky/Scotch choices.try Hint;
Try some Japanese whiskeys, like their cars, a hint of European with some Japanese touch

I'm more of a beer drinker but on fellow Pelican Jims5543 recommendation I picked up a bottle of Journeyman's Corsets, Whips and Whiskey made in Michigan at an old factory that made, what else, corsets and buggy whips.

It's a very smooth, drinkable whiskey but tough to find outside of the distillery or Michigan (you can find their "Featherbone" but Corsets is smoother).

Just got 2 new bottles in, just in time for the holidays!

Great thread.

I'm rather partial to Powers Irish Whiskey. We took a tour of Midleton distillery in Ireland once. It was a great tour and at the end they ask for volunteers to be in a taste test! Absolute best part of the day!!

Famous Grouse has a Royal Warrant. I started drinking it back in the 80s when I lived in England.

I bought some Rabbit Hole to try, it’s damn good.

In my quest for the perfect old fashioned, I've now tried Blanton's, Woodford Reserve Double Oaked and Willett Pot Still Reserve.

Whether in an old fashioned or sipping, the Blanton's and Woodford leave the Willett in the dust. Completely subjective of course but I think most might may say the same.

The Woodford is easy to find and not terribly expensive, definitely worth springing for a bottle just to try it.

onewhippedpuppy 01-01-2021 06:08 PM

How does the Woodford compare to the Blanton’s, just whiskey to whiskey? I’ve never tried the Double Oaked but the normal Woodford is one of my standard go-to whiskeys. I love Blanton’s but it’s very hard to find around here.

I'll do a testing at lunch tomorrow Matt.

FYI - I’ve started following Fred Minnick who is one of the leading bourbon authorities - his blog (https://www.fredminnick.com/) and his YouTube channel (https://youtube.com/c/TheCurationDeskwFredMinnick) are worth following if your into bourbon. Fred is for the bourbon drinkers what Robert Parker is for wine.

This past December he held a virtual Repeal Day event which was stellar and had different ticket options. https://repealdayexpo.com/ I chose the premium ticket and received a ton of bourbon for $149 and the event was outstanding. Enjoy. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1609607164.jpg
