Dear USPS

How have you been? I haven't heard from you in a while. You don't call, you don't write. You don't seem to be responding to external stimuli. I hate to bother you, but I have been waiting for a part for my wife's car for several weeks now, and I need it to get through inspection. You stopped giving me updates on its whereabouts a couple of weeks ago. You just seem despondent and to have totally lost interest in things - many of us are worried about you.

In addition to the part I need to get the car through state inspection, it's been over 2 weeks and you haven't delivered the Christmas card from my parents with the checks for her grandchildren. My brother hasn't received his either, nor my sister who lives only about 10 miles away from them. My 85 year-old mother is ready to go down to the bank and cancel the checks she wrote for her grandchildren.

I know 2020 has been a rough year for you. You were a political punching bag during the election, and then you had to deliver all those ballots. Then COVID came back with a vengeance just as you were trying to ramp up for Christmas. We all can understand that. But now I am really worried about you. Earlier this year the service was pretty bad as well, but back then you really seemed to have fun with it -- sending me bogus estimated delivery dates, bouncing my packages back and forth daily between Maryland and Virginia distribution centers, and flooding my phone with meaningless tracking update text messages. Ah....good times!

Maybe a nice big day three day weekend and the new year will put the bounce back into your step. Be proud -- remember, you're one of the few things the US Constitution specifically authorizes the Feds to do. Rock on, USPS, and don't forget to ask congress for a little extra this year!

I ordered a book and it was shipped USPS.

I followed the tracking on their site. It made it to OKC in 5 days. It then sat in OKC for over a week. It was delivered Christmas Eve.

I will say this. I heard the mail truck stop at my house and I received the delivered email within seconds of the delivery.

Completely unrelated to thread topic, Rob - but wanted to share I had a brief chat with a NINE tour special forces vet today at Walmart. He looked tough too - I wouldn't want to have to face him in a fight!

Hang in there on your parts and Christmas stuff....it's coming I'm sure!

Funny diatribe though - very well done...lol....

The guy at my shop that packed/shipped Sooner or later's Christmas exchange gift told me 10 days before Christmas that whatever I send will not get there until after the first of the year priority mail. That took the wind out of my sails as to urgency and I sent it early the week of Christmas.

Then I hear about distribution center bottlenecks after it was sent but it still got there in 4-5 days not counting Christmas or Sunday.

I talk to the guy this morning about how "fast" it got there and he heard the USPS hired scads of temp workers very recently to help clear the backlog but I can find nothing about this on Google.

Hey Baz!

Yup, trying to have fun with an otherwise mildly annoying situation (first world problems and all that) I know lots of others are in a similar or even worse predicament waiting for truly important items.

NINE tours??? Wow, we have asked a lot of our professional military over the last 20 years, haven't we? Glad he made it through, hopefully all in one piece more or less.

Not to burst your bubble but the tough guy at Walmart who volunteered that he had done 9 tours and was special forces to a complete stranger was probably just a psycho who hangs out at the weight lifting gym. Just sayin...what state was this in again?

I thought it was just Wisconsin / my local post office.
I ordered something from Oswego IL (Chicago suburb) on Nov 28th. It used to take 1, maybe 2 days to receive it. This time it took 16 days,
I ordered two books for Christmas, one from WI and another from CA. They got here the same day, 10 days later. The weird thing is that 8 days later, on Christmas Eve, I got a tracking email that says the one sent from WI was delivered in Johnson TN.

Right now I'm waiting on a fan to fix a humidifier. I ordered it Dec 21st, and it originally was scheduled to be delivered on the 26th. It made it to La Crosse on the 27th, but it sat in a corner yesterday, and today they sent it to New Richmond, which is a little town across the river from Minneapolis / St Paul. Maybe I'll see it Thursday.

That wasn't what happened at all.

I don't think I've ever known anyone as judgemental as you are.

Wow......

I was tracking a package to my home, it took two days for it to go 10 miles from the main post office to my local post office.

Hold out hope.

I ordered some oil from Walmart, on line two day delivery, in Denver.

Walmart shipped the oil from Denver via USPS. USPS routed it to Glenwood Springs, about 160 miles west of Denver, where it sat for about two weeks, then got shipped back to Denver for delivery.

So, about a 300+ mile journey to save me driving about 3 miles.

Me too - one of them just arrived today shipped from Northern Va to Tennessee. The other shipped to the west side of Richmond, both sent 2 weeks ago on 2-day priority. The Richmond address is @ 2hrs south-west of me...……..

Not quite normal in Oregon.

My son has been waiting for this license from the DMV for over 70 days. DMV is sure they mailed it. Post office can't find it. And of course DMV won't re-issue without an in-person visitation, currently scheduled for late February.

I have similar issues with tracking packages - they seem to get stalled at various points for days on end (last two were at post offices here in Oregon).

Went to ship a couple low-priority packages via USPS yesterday - couldn't believe the cost to do so. Probably should have taken them to UPS.

I had a package sent from Missouri on 12/2
Tracking said it was at the distribution center on 12/6
As of 12/21 it was still at the distribution center.
Out of nowhere, it shows up in my mailbox on 12/23

I have another package currently in "Distribution Center" purgatory.

When I see the words "Distribution Center" I start hearing the theme song to Gilligan's Island.

If we are to follow the OP's concern for the stressed out USPS. Maybe they are more chill in OR?

USPS are my friends. They are happy to do reasonably priced deliveries to NZ and arriving in about nine days.

The way UPS, Fedex and the others treat me I wouldn't be able to sit down for a week.

I sent a set of original Porsche repair manuals at magazine rate (or whatever it's called) not realizing they couldn't be insured. They "disappeared" in LA and I am out the value of the workshop manuals. Expensive lesson.
