Bee Gees

I was never a fan until a few years ago, then only half-hardheartedly.

I watched this last night.

Watched parts last night and recorded it for later.

Then I looked them up on Wiki. Couldn't believe that 2 of them are gone now. I knew of one but 2? Hard to believe.

This reminded me about when I was in my early teens and Jive Talkin came out on the radio. You know how people mess up lyrics and sing what they think they hear?

My version of Jive Talkin was ... Jack Dawki. No idea what that was supposed to mean but I was certain that those were the lyrics.

With all your Jack Dawki
Telling me lies...

I wasn't a fan and still not. I'll probably watch it.

I wasn't a fan of the Go Go's, but their Showtime documentary was really good.

I’m happy I did. I thought their early stuff was maudlin but their resilience is impressive.

Better late than never!:) It is funny how music reaches us differently at different times in our lives.

Another group that has some underrated chops when it comes to talent is the Monkees.

I dated a girl that liked to go to discos. Once she got liquored up she was horny as hell. Needless to say I gladly went with her to the disco for the Bee Gees and Donna Summers.

I guess I do appreciate what the Bee Gees did for me.

Nostril Cheese 12-13-2020 10:19 AM

Seriously underrated band.

Lots of people dont realize they did a LOT other than disco...

I bought the "Bee Gees 1st" album shortly after it came out (1967?). I wore the grooves out on it, but didn't pay any attention to them until they started playing disco. Then I couldn't stand them. That falsetto

I will check out the video to see what I missed. Thanks for the tip.

Seahawk 12-13-2020 12:05 PM

The Grammy tribute got me thinking.

If any one can get the John Legend and Stevie Wonder video, thanks.

Thanks for the thread, Paul. been a big fan all my life, really. Their soundtrack work on Saturday Night Fever is beyond fantastic!

The music is timeless.......another song of theirs in American Hustle......

Pioneers in the development of the music video. IIRC, they were hired more for their physical appeal to young girls vs. their musical talent. I guess they grew into their music...

And yes - I was a fan of the show and their music back then. Still enjoy their tunes now from time to time.

I’m a fan. I have The Bee Gees station programmed on Pandora. I love watching First Time Hearing reactions on YouTube. Here’s one on The Bee Gees.

As a kid, I didn't like them, until I saw how the girls responded to the music. I got onboard for that reason. ;)

When I met my Ex, she's a huge fan. I grew to like them as well.

I'll have to watch that.

For comic relief...
