The Solo Stove

My wife bought the Bonfire for my Fathers Day gift two years ago and I didn’t use it for a while, convinced it’s a gimmicky waste of money. Holy moly was I wrong! If you’ve not seen it in action watch some youtubes. Worth the money though it is steep for a fire pit.

I'm sure it burns wood well... ...but seems to be if you can't see the logs & flames - you lose half the enjoyment?

We use a fireplace grate under our wood in the pit surrounded by rocks. Burns hot enough it made the grate sag.

I had one and it was impressive to look at. But it is double walled stainless, so the outside wall does NOT get hot at all, and you are looking at a pretty fire with cold feet and zero radiant heat coming off the side metal surface. I took advantage of their "no questions asked" warranty and sent it right back.

Hmmm. Maybe a return. We will see. I thought it would be good to hang with Mrs LWJ on the patio.

Everyone who’s been around my campfire eventually bought one too.

That’s not been my brother’s experience. He thought the outside wall would remain cold too so he put his show against it. His sole melted so now I have to scrub the rubber off my Solo Stove

I start a campfire to see the flames, and move closer to it if i'm cold. It appears that this solo stove eliminates those two advantages. It sure would be nice to have less smoke, but those 50* nights require a bit of heat, and ambiance.

The stove gives off more heat than a regular fire pit and the fire is impressive to see. I have a video of it but unable to upload. I’m sure you can find it on YouTube.

A friend gave me a vintage fire pit. It looks like a blacksmith hammered it out, back in the day.

I haven’t used it yet since everytime I feel inspired, it seems to coincide with a wildfire nearby. Lighting a fire just seems like such a bad idea now. It’s big and heavy so I’m not dragging it to a campsite.
