Sorry for your loss. You are right, that ad is F'd up.

When they suspected that I had prostate cancer the first thing they did was to perform a bone scan. Apparently when prostate cancer metastasizes it goes to the bones.

I can only guess that 1 There may be something cultural that I/we don't get and 2 The store did what they wanted, their video went viral and is even being featured in other countries. Outstanding marketing. I doubt many folks will be boycotting because they didn't like the video.

family is was got everyone thru it..
now like everywhere else...

rough perhaps..
if it did /does more than make folks pick up the phone to txt..

I didn't see it as any sort of cruel ploy by the father/grandfather, but rather as a last-ditch effort by a desperately lonely and isolated old gentleman.

If he was my Opa, I wouldn't be upset with him.

Thanks for the well wishes, guys. He lived a long life (87 years old) with no regrets. We talked about it at length. I'm actually relieved that he's no longer in pain. It's a nice feeling.

He was equally tough and warm hearted. Also a 60 year Ford/Lincoln/Mercury master mechanic. Learned a lot...

Marketing is a fascinating business. This seems to check a lot of the boxes, evoke an emotion, create a buzz and if you are not familiar with the EU, how many German grocery stores can you think of? at least one now.

That's so sad, many prayers of Peace and Strength to you and yours.

But holy hell, that picture of him is off the charts cool.

That look, those eyes, those fists...and that easy grin saying "...let's dance, I'll lead."

May he rest easy, my Friend.

Nostril Cheese..

My Father is 95 and I take care of him. I am 1.5 miles away from his house and many times have had to rush over to get him to the hospital.
When I say I take care of him... I have hired home care during the week and the V.A.
covers 5 hours Sat. and Sunday.

He wants to close his eyes for the last time at his home and I promised him that.
It is crazy because everyone in my life is dying. Year after year, I feel like my time is next sometimes.
I love my Father and sorry about your grandfather. We are mortal.

Oh... RIP Mitch.

Rapewta.

I've lived in Germany and England. Generally their TV stuff and attitudes in general are more relaxed than in the US.

Porsche has Ads over in Europe that would no way be allowed here. Not bad but just a little risque.

I remember seeing breasts on French tv in the middle of the afternoon one time.

In England I've seen PSA's for vehicle passenger safety that bordered on gross. Person in back seat hitting heads with person in front seat and unsecure load hitting persons in front seat. Both under hard stop deceleration.

Then there is in person stuff. Once on an OFFICE ski trip to Austria, I was in a cooling pool located in a common area outside multiple saunas. Our German IT woman came sauntering through wearing absolutely nothing. I'm sitting in the pool wearing board shorts. She didn't think a thing about it. And before anyone says 'score', it wasn't something anyone wanted to see...

Im happy to say that he passed peacefully at home in his bed surrounded by family. He also didnt want to be in the hospital.

Here's a couple more pics. With my Nana and mother, both taken in Central Park (native New Yorker) sometime in the late 1950s.
