Copart McLaren 570S

Explain to me why I should not or could not buy it. Seems like it would help me get my mind off work. It's local too.

Watch "Hoovies Garage" to check out Tylers adventures with a McLaren.

I think this one will take your mind off of work like stabbing yourself in the leg would take your mind off the sandwich you're having for lunch.

His counterpart Tavarish (sp?) also recently put together a broken/crashed McLaren.

It will be interesting to see what it actually sells for. No auction date has been assigned yet so....

With a branded title subtract 25% ?? Plus 10K in repairs (assuming all cosmetic damage and nothing structural)??? Maybe sells for $100K?

It’s a wrecked mclaren. That’s all you need to know. Parts will be hard to find and $$$$ they depreciate worse than about any other super car, reliability is not great…. Do I need to go on? Like everyone said, watch the hoovie and Tavarish videos to see what you are getting into.

Mount a push bar with lights on the front and you are good to go!
But seriously, both the insurance company and Copart know what they are doing. I doubt there is money or savings are to be had here.

I think that car falls perfectly into the youtuber's car paradox where the more trouble it is the better. Helps with views.

Watching some of Tavarish's struggles with his is about as close as I would want to get to a salvaged Malaren.

Watching Youtubers fix salvage exotics is what led me to buying my Copart diesel coach.
If I did not have to work for a living and I had plenty of play money, I would likely spend my time buying and fixing toys I have always wanted, but was too cheap to buy new. I get great satisfaction in fixing something others consider impossible. There is always risk involved in buying wrecked vehicles, as you never know for sure what else is damaged that is not shown or listed by the auction site. With that said, I can repair just about anything if I set my mind to it. Straightening/replacing/fabricating bent metal is not rocket science. Body shop employees have fixed badly damaged cars for years but nowadays most shops replace bent metal with new parts which would be pricy on an exotic, but it does not mean that a skilled individual with patience could not repair the damaged parts. Body shops today are faced with liability concerns when it comes to fixing bent suspension/frames, but I personally am not afraid to repair metal parts by cutting/pulling/welding.

Pretty much the whole thing. It’s a CF monocoque that mclaren say can’t be repaired.

If you watch Tavarish’s series his had tub damage that required the car to be stripped almost all the way to a bare tub to be repaired. The “factory” repair called for a new tub.

That's actually not a bad idea. Ford has plans to offer emotors from the emach1 as crate packages.

I love doing carbon repairs, watched that video, his repair was a prefect example of a little knowledge is dangerous

Only McLaren F1 I couldn't repair was one of the Sultan of Brunei's, the project manager wouldn't let me take the one door that was the only salvageable part of the bodyshell so I could build a new car around it

Most fraught repair was on a 97 GTR Gulf Racing car, the team foolishly decided to do a Swedish GT race just before the Le Mans 24hrs, we put weeks of man hours into it in only a few days only for the car to not even start the race

Also repaired a carbon fibre inshore powerboat at the Rouen 24hr race in France late one night, had to MacGyver my way out of that one

Used a Castrol metal trash can, silicone, pop rivets and duct tape, not pretty but it lasted another 6hrs until the driver did a proper job of killing the boat
