Looking for ISO 3779 - 1977 PDF

Hi all, I am looking for a copy of ISO 3779 the 1977 version.

What I am in need of is the regulations of VIN placement on european cars pre 17 digit requirement.

I have an issue of VIN inspection without the public visible "A" pillar or dash VIN on a 1979 gray market car.

The US adapted this law in 1968 under (FMVSS) No. 115 than rolled it into 49 CFR Part 565

The European Union changed to this format in 1980 under ISO 3779 1983

If anyone can send me a PDF of ISO 3779 1977 or some direction to finding it will help me in my quest.

I have searched for weeks now and can find all the data on the 17 digit ISO law but can not find the earlier version I believe will explain to the DMV why I don't have the public viewable VIN tag.

Disclaimer: I am "in the system" so I am treading lightly on my alternative choices so looking for the straight forward legit route for now.

Thanks in advance for any help here.

Someone may chime in with some info but you'd bet better off posting this query in the 911 technical forum.

Thanks for the heads up SC. I figure the OT forum is seen by more that just the tech folks but any eyes on this might help.

My 86 930 was a grey market car when it was imported to the us in 86 or 87. I always wondered why it had what looks like a plaque style tag engraved with the vin glued to the dash - now I know.
