Wayne bought (another) new car! Who can guess what?
I picked up the Probe 16 in August. Very unusual car indeed, details here: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/1070269-wayne-bought-new-car-who-can-guess-what.html
Just got a new one that is equally as unique, rare and interesting: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1608416410.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1608416410.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1608416410.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1608416410.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1608416410.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1608416410.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1608416819.jpg Full story to follow soon. -Wayne |
Is that a custom built racer based on a Fiat? Is it a post-war Abarth?
|
Looks like a FIAT or Alfa

Early 1950's Fiat

I think you should restore it to before this dash badge was added, and I'll take it off your hands! SmileWavy

Super Cool. It hits all of the right buttons.

Love it.
One of the automobile magazines or TV shows about a dozen years ago did a comparison of track performance of a 1930's race car with an aircraft engine like a Liberty compared to the latest Porsche GT2 or GT3. The modern Porsche barely had a better lap time, the test driver commented that with modern tires the 1930's open wheel car would have won by a large margin. Something like a 1960's Lotus 25, 29, 38, 43 or 49 (Jim Clark-ish) would be cool too. I'd imagine not as fun because it would be a museum piece. |
It is a yet another cool toy for your collection. Please don't restore it, leave it as is, just get it running and stopping safely at most, and have some fun it it.

That is an amazing machine.
