Maxx is with Colbi

Less than five months ago I said goodbye to Colbi. This morning I said goodbye to Maxx. His cancer came back with a vengeance attacking is liver and spleen. He lost 13 lbs. But last night he couldn't get comfortable enough to even sleep and he stopped eating and drinking. It was time. I got one last face kiss as I held him and the vet did his thing.
The house is so ******* quiet...

2020, the year that keeps on sucking.

Sorry for your loss, Buck. I am sure that he knew that he was loved.

Skytrooper 12-23-2020 08:43 AM

Oh man that really stinks. I had 2 dogs that were like brothers. They were inseperable. They passed 2 weeks apart.

I am truly sorry for your loss. RIP Maxx

So sorry, man...I know the hurt.

As their caretakers, dawgs let us know when "it's time" ... sometimes suddenly. Best to you Buck.... it's never easy. You gave two beautiful pups joy ... be well.

Rikao4 12-23-2020 09:36 AM

oh, man.....Buck, that sucks. They were both such sweet pups and you gave them many happy days, great lives. May their sweet memories last a lifetime.

Danimal16 12-23-2020 10:57 AM

So sorry for your loss. Dogs are the best, it is hard to give them back.

Seahawk 12-23-2020 11:02 AM

I am so sorry, Buck...I love the breed and understand the pain. Being there at the end is both difficult and rewarding: No where else I would rather be.

We are not far from losing our Red Heeler and my wife will have to be glued back together.

Dogs.

Reagan got it a little bit wrong: Nothing is so good for the inside of a person as the outside of a dog.

pete3799 12-23-2020 11:08 AM

My condolences.
This year just plain sucks.

crustychief 12-23-2020 11:13 AM

So sorry to hear of your loss.

NutmegCarrera 12-23-2020 11:17 AM

Really sorry for your loss.
It’s really hard to move on. Our buddies really do carve their place out.
Just try to fill that in that space when they move along.

Hang in there for the holidays.

Hello Mark.......

I'm so sorry to hear this....but proud of you for all you did for Maxx to comfort him in his time of need.

I can't imagine how gutted you must feel losing both your babies in this short a time frame.

Heelers are special companions and it will be a while for the hurt to ease off, I'm sure. Leaving mostly the good memories.

Please keep us posted when and if another puppy finds their way into your family.

Winkipop and his human send love and hugs your way....take care, my good friend.....

ckelly78z 12-23-2020 03:04 PM

Oh man, I can't imagine losing my Colby, and Max...both Cavalier King Charles/Pomeranian mixes. So sorry for your grief/loss.

VINMAN 12-23-2020 04:25 PM

Damn. I hate seeing this. :( I'm so sorry Mark. Too much of a loss in such a short time.

Vinny.

Sorry for your loss.

Shaun @ Tru6 12-24-2020 04:53 AM

So sorry for losing your pup Mark. You did all that you could and you know he had the best life possible for you so take comfort in how happy they both were with you.

Buckterrier 12-24-2020 06:44 AM

Everyone, thank you so much for all the kind words. I'd like to thank each of you individually.
I'm not sure which was worse, the suddenness of Colbi or the slow drawn out process and inevitable vet trip of Maxx. I guess the difference between a knife slash and knife stabbing.
Again thank you from the bottom of my heart.

masraum 12-24-2020 08:09 PM

This is the worst, but you gave Maxx a great life He's not suffering. My deepest condolences.

996AE 12-24-2020 08:39 PM

One of hardest things Ive had to do as a Husband and Father was making the decision to put our dog down. She didnt want to leave her pack. But she was suffering greatly and the time had come. Still brings tears to my eyes typing this and it was three years ago now. Love the darn mutt to death. She was the best. It took my wife a full two years before she had the courage to get another dog.

All of us understand as many of us have gone through it.

I try so hard to think of the good times we had with our mutt. A pound rescue that sat in a cage for nearly 12 months before we adopted her. It was a no kill shelter. She was not happy in the cage and she let all that came by know it. But we took a chance. She knew we rescue her and was the best darn dog you could ask for.

We understand your loss.

Sorry for your loss. It is always tough to say goodbye.
With the number of canines and felines who have passed through our lives we have become very well acquainted with our vets. Susan we have known for more than 30 years. She has always been compassionate and caring with our furry family members.
I hope someone will show me the same consideration when it is my time to go.
All the best in the New Year.

Les
