Professional vs. getting paid for a job

So I spent $300 on a wash and wax on my RV a few weeks ago, I’ve used him in the past 3 or 4 times.

I’m looking at it and I see swirl marks from his wax job. I call him and he blames Winnebago for using cheap paint on my nine month old RV. Doesn’t offer to stop and look at it to see if he can make it right, Nothing...

So I spent $30 on “de-swirle” cream and wax by McGuire’s I got this in this small area in about an hour.

No way that would fly. I'd have given him the opportunity to fix it or have pics of his work posted on the net.

Kinda what I was thinking too since I'm paying a guy $150 to detail a Mazda 3. But still, if he's gonna agree to do the job for $300, it should be a decent job.

That looks like you pissed him off in some way in the past. Only explanation I can see Hugh.

And yeah, $300 to detail an RV is stupid low.

Not sure the swirl marks on the second pic came from washing/waxing. Unless he had really long arms...

Paid $450 for my 928. They restored the paint to remove the swirls, then put a ceramic coating on it. 50 years ago I used to do the same thing with a buffer, a cleaner, then wax for $20. Did a couple of boats for $35. Was told the boats went much faster afterwards.

Exactly, he gave me every reason to excuse himself, cheap RV paint ( Winnebago, really?).

I’m shopping around for someone else, the trouble is that it’s grunt work, no one cares about your stuff as much as you.

What qualified him as a "pro?" A business card or web site?

The guy I used came recommended by a Porsche dealership service tech.

There are guys around that are into making cars look excellent.

Also know of a guy in the Dallas Ft Worth area, calls himself OCDetailer.

Most of the good detailer guys know what their work is worth. The guy that did my 928 took a week for that $450

The newer water based auto paints can be problematic.
