It's probably marketed towards 30 something's. Not pelicans. Fashion changes for the next generation

Hot hatches are what I'm looking at for when my Fit gives out.
The Civic Type R is at the top of my list....but this would be a close second.

jbryan 12-30-2020 11:02 AM

Agree about the wheels!

Type R is hugely impressive but desperately needs AWD. It really struggles to put moderate power down in turns. The Golf R is always an appealing package but always seems overpriced.

Here's your answer. From C&D Mag.

Well having driven one I’m sorry but I call BS. On dry roads even moderate throttle while turning will result in wheel spin. So technically they are correct, it’s not under steer. It’s front wheel spin which effectively feels very similar because you get the same scrubbing effect, even though you aren’t playing tug of war with the wheel. Otherwise it’s a very impressive car but for me that killed the experience.

Btw, I also read all of the glowing reviews which was why I was excited to drive one.

Torque steer doesn't bother me too much and they have come a long way to mitigate it, but the laws of physics is hard to overcome to not spin the front tires pulling out of a corner. Even with a good diff, the outside will get overpowered and make it worse than the inside spinning.

Fashion may change, but ugly doesn't.

Auto trans only, I will pass. I guess they do that so the 30 something's can drive it.

It's not auto, it's DSG.
PDK Dual clutch is for people who want to drive fast.
Stick shift is obsolete and slow

908/930 12-30-2020 02:32 PM

I guess when you buy one you will be racing all the time,LOL. PDK is still an auto.

sold my gti with DSG. garbage. problems. boring. no thanks

Ziggythecat 12-30-2020 02:48 PM

Makes me miss my 04 R32
Same color
Stick was crucial to the fun factor
That was the only way they built all 4,000 of them

fastfredracing 12-30-2020 02:58 PM

Is it so hard to make something visually appealing ? Am I that far out of touch. ?

oldE 12-30-2020 05:43 PM

For those who haven't watched the video, I will point out two things.
First the wheels shown are the optional 19 inchers. Second in the ultimate sport mode the transmission will not shift unless a paddle has been pulled, even if the engine is bouncing off the rev limiter.
Best
Les

908/930 12-30-2020 06:12 PM

So in sport mode the transmission is a new version of the old VW bug autostick.

How dare you guys disagree with Suga

You must all be idiots if you don’t think this is super duper special.

Nostril Cheese 12-31-2020 12:22 AM

I work on a lot of the GTIs. VW has a long way to go IMO.

Damn, thats an ugly car..
