It was a weird situation. They were asking him how it was and from what we can glean in the tape delayed radio broadcast, he was saying OK. However, the radio would have been some time prior to the rain at the time we heard it.

I'm really surprised the team wall didn't tell him to box since they had the radar.

The situation with Hammy was much the same, he even said that boxing and changing tires was the wrong call. Hmmm, more of the usual from him. Team does really well in strategy and he slags them off. He would have ended up just like Lando if the call was left to him.

The thing I find most gross is how Hammy goes way out of his way to compliment Russell and Lando. It is as if he is the sole authority to anoint the heir apparent.

It is unarguable that Hammy is a great driver. Even when he has a very rare mistake, like smacking the wall both front and rear, he still manages to win. Only Hammy can win a race with a tire that is shredded (different race) and only Hammy can have the rain pop up just exactly when it helps him the most. Had the rain just slowed just a bit, he would have lost.

We just never see him crash out on his own, like Botas, or Vettle or Verstappen seem to a few times per year.

Hammy is indeed his own man. He does not care what others think about is um, "style" or lack of it, anymore than I do. I wear my cell phone in a holder, on my belt, just like Batman! Lots of people may think it looks stupid, I simply can't possibly care less what other people think about my style.

That said, those are pretty funny pictures above.

Hammy came on Top Gear back in the early days. He was free of visible tattoos, had short hair and very quiet and polite. He drove the "reasonably priced car" in a heavy rain and was almost as fast as the Stig's time in the dry.

He is a mega millionaire and will have almost all the records that matter in F1 when he retires. Lots of it was pure luck, not all of it.

Proposed new engine will keep V6 turbo architecture but no MGU-H (to complicated and not relevant to road cars) with a much higher % of battery power

I read that when Red Bull presented their idea the only input from Honda was could they please put the red meatball on the nose as an homage to the 272 livery.

With the grid penalties, quali was sort of a predetermined outcome. So that gave me a minute to ponder...

Why does a driver that will start last bc of penalty get to run in quali? Sainz got out of Q1 which means some other driver didn't advance but will move up tomorrow.

Ditto for Hammy. I can see him allowed to run in all sessions but w a 10 place penalty why not move up dude in 11th and allow him to do Q3. Of course there was a slight possibility that hammy only qualified in 10th which would make him 20th but that's unlikely.

Anyway, Q3 was so anticlimactic that I came up with that.

And now throw in a wet race , could be an interesting race . Looking forward to watching Sainz and Danny Ric coming from the back of the pack . Also does Mick have the wet skills of his dad ?
