Swimmer's ear.

Ugh,

Was over at a friends place the other night and made the mistake of dunking my head in her hot tub. Got swimmers ear bad.

Went to the doctor and got some ear drops, but Im not sure its doing much after two days.

Anyone got any tips or secret potions to help?

50/50 vinegar and isopropyl alcohol. FB II has had chronic ear stuff his entire life. This potion kept his ears clear after swimming. Never failed when used right away. After the fact IDK but can't hurt.

Ugh...suddenly brought me back to the time when I dove to the bottom of a lake - in about ten feet of water...and could not find my way to the surface. Beginning to panic...I crawled along the bottom until the water go shallow enough to allow me to stand up - catching my breath.

Turned out that my ears were so clogged with wax that it was messing with my ability to orient up from down. Went to my local clinic to have my ears "pressure washed," and it was amazing to see the huge amount of wax flushed out!

Yup. And use the 50/50 mix any time you've been swimming in suspect water - pools you aren't in charge of the maintenance on, hot tubs, lakes, ponds, rivers, etc. Probably ocean too to be safe.

I'm not a doctor, but have a lifetime of surfing.

Give the prescribed ear drops more time. If not better in a week you may need antibiotics.

I preventatively use Vosol.
