I'd buy an online intro to statistics course

I see a nicely presented elderly lady at the Marathon station where I get my coffee. She says "It's the only thing I do. I buy a couple of one/two dollar scratch offs and have my fun. My husband has passed. This is my excitement for the day"

I also see the skanky looking mid-thirties guy dropping $50 on tickets and drives off in a rusted S10 with a broken leaf spring.

It is a tax for the truly challenged as mentioned.

I have bought one or two giganto prize tickets in my life, millions and millions to one chance, and still wondered if I would win.

I won $8 last night.

I only play a few times per year when the are mega jackpots, $100.00 or so for the year. It may be a fantasy but someone wins. It can just as easily be me.

While Governments gleefully take 40% of the money spent on buying tickets..

I am gona buy 5 tickets with those numbers so if ya win you will have to split it 6 ways..

I view it as entertainment, a fantasy escape, like going to a movie.
A good friend of mine use to say he loved it when one of those welfare people won, so they would finally know how it feels to pay taxes..

You only hear about the winners. If every loser got 30 seconds to tell their story on TV like the winners do, it’d take you something like 950 YEARS (no sleep, no bathroom breaks) to get through them all.

No thanks. I’m better off going to Vegas and throwing it all on red. Far better odds.

My uncle would always talk about how much he won at a Casino. I asked him how much he had spent prior to "winning" in previous visits. He didn't want to talk about how much he won after I brought that up.

I win about $500 a year with about $150 in.

Yeah well that's the way it goes. Government gets their cut. If I stick with that logic I would say I don't want a raise or earn more money because I would pay more in taxes. And since I would take the payout not the annuity the Government will get more like 75%. I will still take it for my my investment.

When I win can I write off the cost of my tickets?
