Make sense, last years Daytona 500 winner took home $2 million.

If his name wasn't Andretti and his dad didn't own the team, you can draw your own conclusions on what his career would have looked like. (It probably would have looked a lot like my Indycar career.)

Pretty sure he's going to be concentrating on the Indy 500, not the Daytona 500.

I know. Much to my surprise, the winner of the Indy 500 takes home more.

I wonder if someone else will fill that seat ? The sponsors have paid for TV exposure . I guess we will have to wait and see . I never thought Marco was much of a driver but what do I know 😁 . Tough following in grandpa's and dads shoes .

by a lot esp vs F-1 that currently pays NOTHING for a race win they only pay by points in the next year based on team rank drivers get no prize money for a win or for the WCD unless the team has a bonus deal |

you can knock Marco all you want, his deal with his dad was he needed to source his own sponsors. Also, he can run hard at Indy which a lot of drivers that have better careers than him can not. His fellow drivers like him as well. anyone that can do well at Indy is ok.

Sort of off topic, but I remember seeing Mario racing his stock car on the dirt oval of Nazareth. PA speedway.

Yeah. I'm thinking this wasn't just a performance decision. Marco was loved in the paddock and could go fast at times, so it wasn't that. But he lost his grandmom last Year, along with cousin John, and now uncle Aldo. Grandad isn't getting younger. Sounds like he might have just wanted to step back a bit on a personal level.

I always thought Marco acted like a spoiled brat.

That's a great article, and that's why I like Robin Miller. Those stats don't lie.
John Andretti also had that famous last name but he had to scramble for opportunities. Somehow he consistently took what was available and turned it into success, so there is definitely something in the Andretti DNA. It's all in how you use it.

Will the Indy 500 truly be "30 days in May" this year like usual, or will it be a week in August like 2020 ?
