Spooky Answer!

Been looking for awhile to replace my Honda Fit..(230K mles) this spring.
A few weeks ago, I narrowed it down to the Civic SI or the Golf GTI..with the Golf being the probable one.

Just now reading this months Car & Driver. It has a flow chart with about 10 questions which lead to the perfect car for your needs.

Yep...mine was the GTI... (and I didn't look ahead when answering the q's)

Interesting.

Joy of Driving
Wind in my hair
Cayman/Boxster. (not a lot of wind in the hair with a cayman folks).

But, I guess if you follow
Joy of Driving
Friction circle
Save the manuals
then take a hard right, that does lead you back to
Cayman/Boxster

After reading the final car choices...I am surprised mine wasn't the Supra or the Boxster.
But I picked 'I can read a friction circle' instead of 'I want wind in my hair' and I want to save the manuals....lol

We own a 2018 GTI. It is exceptional. It reminds me so much of my old E36 M3/4/5 in terms of size, and power delivery. The LSD really makes it a fantastic corner carver, though it doesn’t have the ultimate balance of the BMW.

The hatch has made it as useful as anything I’ve owned. I’m not sure if the Honda has that versatility, given the roofline.

I believe we all make mistakes but I will not validate your poor choices and/or perversions and subsidize the results your actions.

I was looking for a used car for commuting a few years ago. GTI and Focus / Fiesta ST were high on my list. I insist on a manual, I strongly prefer a hatch and I commute on tight back roads.
I ended up buying a Mini JCW from a forum member. I love driving the car but it's not the most reliable thing.

The cargo space in my Fit is the reason why I'll pick the GTI over the Civic. It's like a mini-van's. I don't think the GTI back seats disappear like the Fit's, but still more room than the Civic.
The next years model of the GTI is already being sold in Europe. I have not seen it, but they say it looks meaner and is more powerful.

If I wanted a truck...I would go with the Ridgeline.

I don’t think the Ridgeline comes with a room, though.

Is it even a truck? It was pretty cool how it went through that puddle though.

I vote the Civic. A car even more excellent than the Fit.

The Golf... Who knows (until it's too late)

The Civic SI is a great car...and would prob be more reliable than the GTI
It keeps coming back to the cargo space..for my daily use.
During the biking season, my bike is always in the Fit (when not riding it)..just roll it in.
The Civic....not enough room.

This. There is no way I would get two large MTBs in the Civic. The Golf? No problem.

Mine has been painless in the two years I've owned it. I know, I was skeptical too.
