I know none other than holding your breath...and that rarely works for me.

And, no, I wouldn’t jump off it.

One of my 3m dives had me hit at a slightly weird angle or something and it was unpleasant. I think my hands were angled or I hit at a slight angle instead of straight and the force caused my body to bend backwards which was unpleasant enough for me to not do that a second time. It may have been the same dive when the top of my head hit the water, that was uncomfortable too.

And jumping in feet first, I remember my feet and junk feeling quite a smack when I hit the water.

Nope, nope, nope.

I have jumped off cliffs or bridges into rivers or lakes from that high. Pretty sure the bridge ones were illegal.

I can't recall how far it was from the flight deck to the water, 85' maybe. They told us feet first, arms crossed across chest, plug your nose, clench your butt cheeks and open your mouth. Not sure I want to know what happens if you miss a step on that checklist.

That all makes sense, but I don't understand the point of that last one. Curious.

You'd be surprised what goes out the window in certain situations.

I'de rather jump out of an airplane with a parachute then 20 meters with nothing but a swimsuit

stealthn 01-28-2021 10:35 PM

Ah, have you ever watched the Red Bull cliff diving? No, I couldn’t

You guys have just reminded me. When I was about 8 us kids would walk along a railway bridge then when the train got close we would jump into the river below. It was pretty exciting stuff. The train roaring towards you with the horn blaring. LOL The difference in time between deciding to jump and the speed of the train; it was just about on top of us as we leapt off the bridge.

A few years back, when in Acapulco, I saw these guys. Amazing to see how they time their jump with the waves.
