I have Abba, Duran Duran, and Olivia Newton John's greatest hits CDs, and actually listen to them.

I have ZERO percent shame saying I owned and listened (in heavy rotation) to a George Michael cassette back in the day. The dude was crazy talented AND he made some really awesome videos in the late 80's/early 90's. ;) In fact, I believe I have Freedom! 90 on my favorites playlist today.

I like Barry Manilow. There, I said it! I like Toto, too.

Starless 01-29-2021 04:36 AM

Ok ,not about an album i admit to owning, but about Manilow. A few years ago two guys came over to do stump grinding in my yard. A white dude and a black dude. While I was writing the check I ask to whom do I make it out to. The white guy points to the black guy. I ask him his name and he says Barry Isaac. I repeat back to him, "Barry?" and he says "yeah, like Barry Manilow". Then i say "and Isaac like Isaac Hayes"? He looks at me and says, "who's that"?
True story.

I paid to go to a LRB concert. It wasn't too bad. There is only one "original" member but even that is in question. Google it.

KFC911 01-29-2021 05:11 AM

ONJ gets a free pass .... "Muskrat Love" does not :D.

And humming along to a catchy tune ... that's fine.

I'm talking about plunking down 5 hard earned bucks and putting it in yer collection ....

Bob Kontak 01-29-2021 05:51 AM

I had the Bread album.

Baby I'm-a want you
Baby I'm-a need you

Now try to get that out of your head.

I peed in the sink at a McDonalds once.

Wait - not that kind of confession?

herr_oberst 01-29-2021 06:02 AM

IF I'm traveling alone in my car and there is no chance anyone anywhere can hear me, and by chance "urgent" comes on randomly , well I confess that I'll turn it up past pain levels and do my best Lou Gramm impersonation.

(And Nazareth had some good songs. I remember being stoned listening to the cover of Hollis Brown for the first time and just being mesmerized at the retelling of the dylan song. Made it their own! A great song for driving through the desert at night!)

Starless 01-29-2021 06:09 AM

OK, OK, I'll crank up Love Is Like Oxygen by The Sweet. Especially the long version.

Then you must watch Last Christmas staring Emilia Clark (of Game of Thrones fame) and Michelle Yeoh (who is partner to former Ferrari boss and current FIA boss Jean Todt)

OK-944 01-29-2021 11:36 AM

B-52's (kick @ss band!) - Rock Lobster...play it LOUD!

Oops...back to the heart of this thread..."Hey Hey We're The Monkeys!" I think this...sung in a heavy German accent - would be the bomb!

Zeke 01-29-2021 11:51 AM

If anyone owns a Captain and Toneal album, you win the thread. I had to look them up to spell "Toneal."

If you ever watched a C and T video on MTV, you own PPOT.
