My mail carrier got upgraded to a Ram minivan for her deliveries. She is much happier as it rides/drives much better than those old postal jeeps. And it has air conditioning.

We got a Christmas card a couple of days ago that was mailed from MD to SC on Dec 17! Then my wife got an email from Master Card that a late fee was being imposed because her payment had not been received. She had mailed a check 2 weeks earlier. She will now call them each time and have it deducted directly from our checking account. It appears they need more than new vehicles.

See! Those 600 ponies would have been pretty handy huh? :D
AND you'd have the added benefit of always knowing when the mail was coming. "I think I can hear the mail truck two blocks over"

Postmaster directed many sorting machines to be removed, right in time for a huge upsurge in mail due to election and Covid shopping-from-home. Benefits Amazon, FedEx, UPS. Raises postal and inventory costs for many. Not a good decision, probably gets reversed.

Cab, an added benefit is that it is easy to tell when the mail has been delivered. The burnout and tire smoke as the postman leaves my mailbox is an easy tip off. Sometimes he opens up the cutouts and I can hear him rumbling a couple of blocks away.

The more you think about it though, if it's fast enough to need a parachute or 1/4 mile to stop it, that might make delivery times worse than they are now.

Someone had to say this, thank you. Yes, a change in Postmaster General is likely and an administrative reversal is likely as a result. That said, in order to fix the longstanding strategic dysfunction, the USPS Board of Governors would need to be replaced and Congress will need to support America's favorite federal agency.

A lot of progress has been made over the years and especially lately toward the goal of eliminating the USPS so that a public option is not available to us.

I tried to get it back on track. Failed miserably.

You forgot to mention that USPS also introduced new uniforms.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1612206282.jpg

Also, the USPS local delivery fleet should be electric, at least in urban areas. Perfect application for EVs.

Same old trucks in my area for USPS

The UPS big brown truck can be recognized a quarter mile away by it's engine sound.
I don't know what they have...but they sure sound nice.

To me the brown boxes sound like other similar boxes.

Those little grummans with the bird on the side however - I think they're much more distinctive. I hope the replacements are electric and sound like something from the Jetsons...

More low end torque for burn-outs
