A/c freon capacity for 1983 sc911

Good Day, What is the a/c system freon capacity in ounce for the original R12 freon?
My car's sticker is rubbed off.
Thanks,

Pretty sure just over 30 oz for the SC. 33 oz, IIRC.

As from factory with the York compressor. The square looking contraption.

47.6 oz on my `87
Not sure on the `83

I didn't realize the car held that much freon. I top off r134 whenever I drive the car. I really should switch to barrier hoses, but Walmart has those cans for $5 and it is pretty easy to top off.

The reason Porsche used non barrier hoses was that it is cheaper than barrier hoses, so at even $10 bucks per car savings, times many tens thousands of cars is real money. And R-12 was dirt cheap at the time. Now we know R-12 and R-134 are not good on the environment. Your one car is minuscule additional pollution, but it is direct to the atmosphere.

I replaced my hoses and added two condensers 11 years ago. Not because I was worried about the pollution but only to get it to blow COLD air on the hottest days. I can go 5 years and not have to top off any refrigerant charge at all. When I do add some it is only to make the pressures ideal and very little is added.

With all the hoses running from the compressor, to the engine grill mounted condenser, to the two rear fender condensers, up to the receiver-dryer, over to the front condenser, to the expansion valve and then to the evaporator and then back to the compressor there is a lot of volume. But I can hang meat on the hottest and most humid days with the fan set to hurricane.

OP cross posted in the tech forum. Someone else had an 83 with sticker intact. 39 oz.
