Thanks Greg, for her occasional household use I suspect the Kitchenaid will be a big upgrade over her handheld mixer.

My time is the one thing that can’t be replaced. When a business wastes my time, I am pretty intolerant.
I live out of town so often I like to call in first to make sure they have what I am after, the trouble is that the pimple nose kid on the phone doesn’t give a rats ass and if you don’t have a sku, won’t bother to look it up. Amazon and online auto parts businesses get my business unless I need it today. |
Is there really any "local" any more except for restaurants?
I grew up on a farm between two towns of about 3500 population each. One of them had a combo Chevrolet/John Deere dealer, a grain elevator, a hardware store that sold everything from color TVs to horse collars, a drug store, a couple of restaurants, 3 gas stations, and a grocery store - for 3500 people! The other town had 2 car dealerships (Ford and Chevy - or three if you include the guy who sold Deutsch-Bonnet), 2 grocery stores, 2 hardware stores, drug store, a NAPA store, lumber yard, and restaurants. Now you have to travel 15 miles to find any kind of car dealer, only one town has a drug store. The nearest source of building supplies is 18 miles away. Retail has for the most part been centralized in bigger stores in bigger towns, so not so local anymore. I don't mind buying from Amazon vice a big box store 15 miles away. Amazon is just doing to the big boxes what the big boxes did to local business. |
