I am not an expert but I did run across this recent article. I don't know anything about medicine but it seems to me that a medicine that is given routinely to fragile little old ladies for arthritis is probably safe enough to try given the larger risk of COVID. Of course that is just "Rob Logic", that something would be better than nothing, given we are mostly still waiting on a vaccine.
From the Jan 2021 issue of The American Journal of Medicine: https://www.amjmed.com/article/S0002-9343(20)30673-2/fulltext?fbclid=IwAR2RB2h6Lc5BUlejyT68YabFdrIDea-m6BfhUwL7mtlf3aurhJJ7niL-GSo |
The drug has proved effective (both preventative and as an early treatment) and the studies showing otherwise have been withdrawn...but those scare tactics have ensured it has not been used. Now there is a vaccine and other treatments. It is a pity that this was made such a political football as it surely cost a lot of lives.

She lost me at about 3:50 when she started talking about what the virus is called. There's no confusion in Covid-19 or SARS Cov2.. the name is ultimately irrelevant.
