Shingles vaccine...

A thread was removed (for good reasons) that talked about this vaccine. I've been procastinating, but am going to Walgreens tomorrow ...

Just go get one :)!

911boost 02-04-2021 11:00 AM

Yeah, my bad.

Jesus I was just making sure he was ok and my thread gets deleted.

WTF

Noooo... not your fault. I exchanged PMs with Z after it disappeared. It was removed for a very good reason... hence this one ;).

Carry on....

Yep...I am more concerned with shingles than I am with covid.
Being in good health...if covid hits, prob won't be bad
Shingles will cause terrible pain for weeks...even if in good health.

I hope it wasn't something I said that caused the thread to be removed.
Would be nice to see a reason....and learn by it.

My wife and I got the two dose shingles shot last year. The first shot was not bad, the second one left my arm sore for a few days.

Way better than a dose of shingles. My mom got shingles and said that was 10 times worse than childbirth.

Thanks KC

rfuerst911sc 02-04-2021 11:42 AM

I got the first of two shingles shots late last year . In the next week or so will get the follow up shot . From what I have heard I want nothing to do with shingles !

ckelly78z 02-04-2021 11:49 AM

I had shingles a few years back across my mid section, and sides...evidently it must have been a mild case, because I continued working, and had minor discomfort (disclaimer; I have an unusually high tolerance for pain). I wish there was some sort of standard measuring scale for pain levels, not just what someone says.

As I said in the other thread, Walgreens has Shingrix. With even my crappy health insurance last year it was "no cost" to me.

I have to get the second dose 2 weeks after second Moderna dose

I hope my WD40 comment wasn't out of line.

The vaccine seems safe. Interesting.

I'll bet it was the shower scene!

I had the first shingles shot in December and going next week for my second "booster". I got my flu shot and the doc suggested the shingles shot. At first I declined but he told me it is one of the best preventative vaccines out there.

Eric Hahl 02-04-2021 12:17 PM

I got both mine. Dang thing was sore for a few days.

stevej37 02-04-2021 12:19 PM

I'm kinda wondering why they don't put a two shot vaccine in both arms instead of one.
Maybe no diff..but would be worth seeing.

Not at all... And on a side note: WD40 works great at keeping your snowblower blades from getting clogged up with the white stuff when clearing out 2+ feet of snow...

KC911: Thanks for posting this new thread.

No harm, no foul - nobody did anything knowingly wrong or out of line.

Carry on...

Hey guys, pay attention to the shingles warnings. There are many ways the disease displays itself. In my case (last year), I noticed I lost some hearing ability in my left ear one morning. The next day I had sores on the left side of my and head (including my scalp). The sensitivity was incredible; couldn't even comb my hair for a week. The thing is, I lost 20% of my hearing ability in my left ear permanently. Doctors were worried it could migrate to my eyes and cause blindness. I took anti-viral meds and prednisone for inflammation; I got through it in a couple of weeks, but, as I said, still the hearing I lost is gone for good. DON'T TAKE CHANCES. Get your vaccine shots. You never know...

I had a mild case of Shingles two years ago. Got on acyclovir within a day or two of noticing the rash and it was not bad at all. An itchy rash that lasted for 4 or 5 days.

Sooner or later 02-04-2021 12:53 PM

One of my past girlfriends would get shingles. After seeing her symptoms I knew I wanted no part of it. I got the vaccine.

Bugsinrugs 02-04-2021 02:07 PM

Shingles SUCKS....enough said.
