I am thinking of making a personal website that I could get hosted for free by geocities or something like that. I am thinking of making it a site where you could see/get lots of BMW pictures. But I don't know if I am allowed to put pictures from other sites on my site, and if I will be allowed to take those pictures. Could I just put a credit line underneath the picture that lets the viewer know where I got it and who it belongs to? Do I have to ask permission from every site I take a picture from? I might sound dumb but I really don't know about this stuff.

whatever you do, you're best off asking the people responsible for the website you are taking the pictures off of for permission.

Usually, personal website people won't mind, but corporate (ex: BMW of North America) will not appreciate you using their stuff.
