sold my motorcycle.

it was time.

i simply didnt ride it anymore. i'm not even sure why. i didnt enjoy it all that much anymore.

i kid you not, i put it up for sale at an attractive price and my email blew the hell up. right away. 30 minutes after i posted my CL ad, i had a Venmo deposit. the next day, a really nice guy with a trailer and a wad of cash showed up and wheeled away the bike. NOW? i think i was $1k low, but i took blue book and bumped it up a few hundred and ran with it.

i did take the time and respond to every email i got and thanked them for looking. totally painless.

its weird. as i get older, i want less and less stuff cluttering up my life. i helped a guy move (packing) to the midwest and the sheer volume of worthless crap in his life was staggering. streamlining things feels good. feels real good.

my garage feels expansive. i threw open all four doors of my wife's car and vacuumed it. it was palatial.

bye bye bike.

I am 66 years old and still have six motorcycles and two scooters. I know that the day will come that I won’t be able to throw a leg over one of them, but I hope it sometime way off in the future.

I have a 600c dual sport that is kick start only. One day it will have to get traded for one with a magic button.

I enjoy crashing around on dirt lanes, and farm fields with my KLR 250, and at 56, I still have no problem throwing a leg over. My problem is the bike is kick start only, and sometimes hard to start in cold weather. I still love getting out on it, but a E start bike would suit me better.

Now where's that thread about the electric motorbike...

That could be a whole new love affair.

Selling a motorcycles doesn't mean you're out of it. Come spring you might find two sitting in the garage. Like paraphrasing the Talking Heads... "How did these get here..."

That's what I've discovered...

I am headed out at the end of the week to look at one in Virginia.

After over 50 years on the dirt, it is Gentleman's dirt biking only for me.

I rode on the street a lot as a kid and unlike all of my friends, my Dad and many others, I was never at ease on a street bike...not the skill set rather the environment. Guys like JH, , RL, LakeCle and many other here have the gift I never got on asphalt.

My problem is I'm too comfortable on the street. Or maybe just brain dead and ham fisted. I think I'm gonna pack it in before, well, before I pack it in.

Grew up on dirt bikes and dual sports. I have no problem running off into the ditch to avoid idiots or deer on a dual sport, not so much a street bike. Dad just kicks the deer to get them out of the way. Must be all those years playing soccer on motorcycles.

My Dad rode almost daily into his 80's.

His bike was the last vehicle to go, a week before he did. Guys and Gals that love to ride just amaze me. They just have a thing
