My 10 day quarantine experience with Covid -

I just figured I would post this to the forum, maybe it will dispel some fears. Just cataloging my situation and treatment as to help someone recover. In my state, they want us to quarantine for 10 days after the first sign of symptoms, 14 after a known exposure.

Right now I am 5 days in. I haven't changed my diet much, just cleaned it up a little. I have been eating like this for a few years now. No processed food, no sugar other than in some berries, no grain. We try to eat organic meats and veggies, fish, beef and chicken in that order. Good quality multi-vitamin plus zinc and D3 supplements. So far I had a minimal loss of taste but it has returned, still slightly muted.

Day 1 - onset of symptoms body aches and minor cold symptoms, no upper respitory problems
Day 2 - continuation of the above for approx 36 hours after first onset
Day 3 - easing of body aches and cold symptoms
Day 4 - for the most part, symptom free. Slight production of clear phlegm, No fatigue
Day 5 - symptom free, continued slight production of clear phlegm, no fatigue

I bought a pulse Ox on Amazon and with practicing the EFT breathing treatments from David Abel on youtube, are making sure that my lungs are staying exercised. David and his wife Sally were stuck on that cruise ship in Japan during the outbreak in February and detail their adventures in trying to stay off the ventilator after the whole boat was infected.

I will try to update daily while in quarantine.
Added: I am 59 years of age/Male

You a fairing a lot better than I did. There wasn't any counting of days in quarantine. I didn't care how many days it was, I wanted either me or it to be gone.

To the OP, you report similar to my 18 year old. Me? I am 54, I suspect it may be a worse experience.

Question? Any killer trout streams near Jackson? I will be there this August. Thanks!

Not to be a you know what in the punch bowl but counter guy (40 years old) at the parts store got it from his respiratory therapist wife.

First five/seven days routine flu type discomfort. Then he went silent. Second week was really rough. Not ventilator rough but rough.

I hope that misses OP. Keep us posted.

Had it in November. Slight fever for a couple of days and minor head congestion. Other than that, it was a non event. After the 10 days, I lost taste and smell for a few days but that was it. Best of luck getting past it!

I am turning 59 this year. So far so good. As far as trout, East of Moran on the Buffalo Valley Rd has some good spots on the Buffalo Fork. Some of it you can access off Hwy 287 if the Valley Rd is closed.

I was pretty lucky with covid; have higher risk issues. I had no fever, just fatigue, shortness of breath (still have problems with that), and loss of taste/smell. I was pretty much over it when I tested, but still did the 10 day quarantine. I have an appointment for the shot next week, just in time since I know my antibodies are dropping daily.

A 46 year old cousin of my wife was not so lucky with covid. They pulled the plug on him and Christmas morning.

Eric, yeah, thanks for sharing that. Do your really think that a person just trying to catalog their recovery needs to hear this? C’mon man. We are supposed to support each other not shatter their hopes. We all know the downside risk to this disease. Jeez.

Sounds like the common cold to me (you know, that discomfort we all get once, or twice a year), and a pretty light case at that, not worth quarantining in my opinion ???

I think if you are symptom free over the weekend into next week, it may have just been a touch of flu, or a cold....let's hope !

Sorry, chalk it up to misreading the intentions of the post.

My test came back Positive on Saturday February 6th.

Day 6 today - minor body ache (rear flank) in the night but that has diminished after the day progressed. I suspect it had to do with the slight dehydration that I was experiencing the day before. Increased my H2O w/electrolights as well as doubling up on Zinc to 75mg day. Slight cough still persists but there is nothing to produce. O2 Sats have not change and actually improve when I complete the EFT breathing.

I am not one to take any pain relievers for discomfort, so there has been nothing like that to ease the symptoms.

I am getting outside to shovel and soak up some Vitamin D which helps the soul.

Agree

Dumb question of the day? Has the OP done the Covid Test ??

I had pretty much the same experience last April. Sudden onset of chills then fever of 101-102, fatigue, no appetite late on a Friday afternoon.. earliest I could get Covid test was Monday morning so I went in quarantine. Did the swab test Monday morning but would be 3-5 days til results. Never any respiratory problems, just fatigue, low fever, no appetite. PCP said it sounded like common flu. After 6 days in quarantine the Covid swab test came back negative... just the flu or a bad cold.

YMMV

An update, and yes, I had a positive PCR test on Saturday Feb 6, 2021
Day 7 (Friday) - Similar symptoms carrying over from the last couple days mainly loss of smell and taste and some upper respiratory symptoms like having a mild cold. Continuing with MV, 75mg Zinc and 7000 iu of D3 daily. Been doing wet sock therapy at bedtime the last few night, seems to have the intended effect of increasing circulation.

Day 8 (Saturday) - Repeat of day 7 mostly. I did get out and drove the countryside just to get a change of view. No major changes good or bad.

Day 9 (Sunday) - Woke up refreshed after a great night sleep. Production of phlegm has ended, no more head cold symptoms, still have no sense of smell or taste. Sticking with Vitamin regime as previous.

My wife had it and her symptoms were minor, thank goodness. The worst thing for her was the congestion and the associated headaches; other than that she came through it well. She is 45 btw. I have been tested three times; once when she tested positive, and twice since, and all have been negative. I felt confident that I had contracted it with our obvious proximity, and the fact that I had experienced some loss of my sense of smell, but I had not.
