RIP but the only reason I know his name is because of the Woody Harrelson movie.

- Was he really a freedom of speech advocate?

We used to get Hustler down here but like Penthouse I never bothered to find out who the owner was.

One of my best friends was the original art director for Hustler. He started right out of art school. He got fired because the used the color blue too much, and Flynt hated blue. Flynt had an explosive temper.
My friend went on to a very successful career in sports publishing.

I was always too busy looking at the pictures... they were so mesmerizing..that I could hardly take my eyes off of them.

Yes he was. And during his court battle with Jerry Falwell some guy shot him because Flynt published the first mixed-race couples shoot.

The courthouse location of the shooting is about 10 minutes from where I live. Lawrenceville GA, County Seat of Gwinnett County GA - that was suing him for obsenity.

Larry had an evil looking black Gulfstream.
As an ATC I can say his female pilot had the best sounding voice on the radio too.

Larry Flynt was just a businessman looking to make a buck. He made a lot of bucks by selling a product that people wanted.

Nothing more, nothing less. To be able to wear the had of freedom fighter is just publicity.

MRM 02-11-2021 08:06 AM

^^^ This is true. He found it convenient to present himself as a protector of free speech, but even the ACLU types who argued for him were uncomfortable giving Flynt the First Amendment microphone. He was not a good person. He was violent and abusive and coerced his models and his daughter accused him of abusing her, which he denied. So there is that.

GH85Carrera 02-11-2021 08:12 AM

Yea, I would have liked to go to the Playboy mansion parties and hung with Hugh Hefner at his prime. I would not want to get close to Larry. Both were just businessmen making a living selling a product. Hugh at least had some class.

Ahhh - Middle school.

We found stacks of all the brands in the woods behind our house. They made the rounds...

I know right...always in the tangles behind something but well within reach of soon to be men. It's weird, as a kid it was the best treasure finds, as a adult you wonder what creepy bastard throws his toss mag's in the brush behind people's houses?

Some of my favorite outdoor forums have "creepy stuff found in the woods" threads that are hundreds of pages long.-WW

I once dated a woman from Germany. She asked me how Americans have the sex Ed talk with their kids. I said that most parents didn’t, and instead let their kids hang out in garages and old houses until they were of such an age that the parents figured their kids had gotten all the information needed from older kids, books and magazines and the talk was no longer needed. She just looked strangely at me and said “that’s why Americans have such a high unplanned pregnancy rate”.

What I don't understand is how woods porn is common. Funny to hear stories of this from other regions. It was exactly the same in the late 80s up here in the Seattle area. It's like every suburban forest was seeded with porn mags at some point.

One of those great mysteries of life...like why do you see or find, only one abandoned shoe? Why is there never a pair.-WW
